Who we are...

Parkstone Connect is nestled in the heart of Parkstone’s local community. It is in a large, modern, vibrant and welcoming building with brightly coloured décor and art and craft work produced by the clients is displayed throughout. It has an accessible garden.

The service boasts a sports activity hall; music room; computer room; art studio complete with kiln; a sensory room and other rooms for group activities and individuals to socialise.

The service has a vibrant timetable with a wide range of activities that work towards achieving clients’ individual goals and outcomes. They take place in the centre and out in the community and are organised around total communication; health and wellbeing; sensory and relaxation; the arts and music. Examples include boccia; sensory exploration; virtual reality (VR) technology interaction; drama; art; ceramics; woodwork; music reminiscence; cooking; yoga, football and music therapy. Community sessions include ‘Discovering Dorset’; photography; health and wellbeing and ‘The Gentlemen’s Club’.

Regular social and sports events are hosted, including boccia tournaments; theme days and a Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra tea dance.

The service is well known in the local community for its annual fun packed theme days, such as ‘View Fest’ Music Festival; ‘School Daze’ and the Wild West Theme Day.

Bathing and shower facilities are available and prices for these services with specialist support are available on request.

Regular carers’ coffee mornings and meetings are held, as well as an annual carers’ rights event to help carers with the information and support they need. The service offers daily respite attendance to support carers.
