🐘🚨 Emergency at the zoo! 🚨🦒

Oh no! The animals were trapped and needed rescuing! The children had lots of fun using their fine motor skills and problem-solving abilities to save the zoo animals. 🦁🐵

A fantastic activity for developing hand strength, coordination, concentration, and perseverance—all while having fun! 💪✨

👩‍🍳🧑‍🍳 Our Mini Chefs have been busy this term!

The children have enjoyed making a range of delicious treats, including healthy wraps, jam puffs, cheese, bean and sausage melts, pizzas, and vegetable curry. 🍕🥙🥕

Through cooking, the children have developed a variety of important skills, including mixing, spreading, chopping, and assembling ingredients. These activities help to strengthen hand muscles and support early writing development.

We are so proud of the confidence, independence, and enthusiasm the children have shown in the kitchen. We can't wait to see what they create next term! 🌟

🌿 **Forest School Fun!** 🌿

Today was the start of this term's Forest School. Unfortunately, the weather meant we couldn't visit the forest, but Miss Barfield had a fantastic indoor activity planned instead.

We explored the field and collected leaves and small sticks before using our natural treasures to decorate our names with double-sided sticky tape. The children showed great creativity and had lots of fun working with natural materials! 🍃✨

The countdown is on to the 12th June, when we will be taking part in the Barnardo’s Big Toddle! This is a fantastic opportunity to raise money for a wonderful charity, and we are very excited for the children to take part.
This year’s theme is Safari, and we are inviting all children to come dressed as safari animals. Please don’t feel that you need to spend lots of money on costumes — simple outfits work just as well, such as dressing in grey for an elephant or orange and black for a tiger. We can’t wait to see all of the children’s amazing outfits!
We will be walking laps around the field, and we would love for you all to join us in supporting this wonderful event. Even if your child is not normally in nursery on a Friday, please feel free to come along, take part, and help support this fantastic charity. Parents and carers are very welcome to dress up too!
We are hoping to start at around 2:15pm, so we kindly ask that you arrive shortly beforehand and meet us at the reception gate, where staff will let you in.
Our JustGiving page is now live, and any donations would be greatly appreciated.
We really hope you are able to join us for this fantastic event!

This term our topic has been Once Upon a Time. We have shared the stories of The Three Little Pigs, Little Red Riding Hood and The Gingerbread Man with the children. Through a range of carefully planned EYFS activities, the children explored the stories in fun and engaging ways across all areas of learning.
Staff enhanced the continuous provision with a variety of provocations linked to the stories to spark the children’s curiosity, imagination and independent learning. The children enjoyed building houses for the three little pigs in the construction area, exploring textures and materials, acting out stories in the role play area, and taking part in small world and sensory activities linked to the characters and settings.
These experiences supported the children’s communication and language development, early literacy skills, creative thinking and personal, social and emotional development. The children particularly enjoyed retelling familiar stories, joining in with repeated phrases and using props to bring the tales to life.
We ended the term by enjoying some delicious gingerbread men for snack, which was a lovely way to celebrate our learning together.

🔥 Last week at Forest School, Miss Barfield taught the children how to make “dragon sneezes” using flint and steel! It was tricky at first, but the children showed fantastic perseverance and there were plenty of dragon sneezes to be seen!

Afterwards, we enjoyed toasted pumpkin seeds around the fire pit before getting creative by decorating pine cones and adding eyelets so they could be hung up. 🍂🔥✨
