A look into the future for our Year 6 pupils! πŸŽ’πŸŽ“

This week, the children visited Bournemouth University to find out what higher education is all about. They had a brilliant day exploring the campus on a scavenger hunt and chatting with current students to get the inside scoop on university life.

It was fantastic to see them beginning to look ahead, think differently about their future options, and realise that these big opportunities are well within their reach. Thank you to Bournemouth University for hosting us so wonderfully! πŸ™Œ

Step aside, London Fashion Week! 🧡✨

Just before half-term, our incredible Year 6 pupils transported us back to the 1940s with a brilliant 'Make Do and Mend' fashion show. From designing and hand-sewing their own outfits to baking and serving homemade WW2 oat biscuits, they absolutely blew us all away with their creativity and hospitality.

To top it all off, they performed a moving trilogy of wartime songs, complete with British Sign Language for a beautiful rendition of 'We'll Meet Again'. 🎢

A massive thank you to all the family and friends who came along to support, and for your incredibly generous donations towards the Year 6 end-of-year reward day. We are so proud of them! πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§πŸ‘

History is getting hands-on in Year 4! 🏺 The children have been busy using their clay-sculpting skills to create traditional canopic jars.

It’s a creative way to explore Ancient Egyptian beliefs and death rites, turning complex history into a memorable learning experience. We love seeing such amazing effort and concentration from our young artists and historians!πŸΊβœ¨πŸ™Œ

Our children have been busy getting creative for the BCP Library Story Door Trail! πŸšͺ

✨ Inspired by our recent Picture Book World Cup, every class submitted a design, with a talented team of children and staff bringing the final look to life (with a huge helping hand from Silver Birch class!). 🎨

This was a brilliant opportunity for our children to collaborate, express themselves artistically, and connect with our wider community.

Our finished door is officially on display at Branksome Library for half-term! Head down over the holiday, grab a photo with our creation, and see how many other doors you can find across BCP.
We aren't revealing our design just yet (photos coming after the break!), but we will give you one clue: you’ll never forget this particular animal! πŸ»πŸ“š

The school was buzzing with literary excitement earlier this week! We were absolutely thrilled to host a pre-loved book fair, beautifully set up by the wonderful Vanessa Marsh at Pop-Up Bookshop πŸ“šβœ¨

From our Pre-Schoolers right up to our Year 6s, every single child had the opportunity to explore the shop and choose a brilliant book to take home and keep forever. Our dedicated pupil Reading Champions did a fantastic job helping to run the event, demonstrating some wonderful leadership skills and school values. From gripping fiction to fascinating non-fiction and colourful graphic novels, the sheer joy on the children’s faces as they stepped into our pop-up shop was magical.

The reading excitement didn't stop there! Vanessa also led an inspiring whole-school assembly to officially launch our 10,000 Hours of Fun Reading Challenge, in partnership with the National Year of Reading – Go All In initiative.

The Challenge: Over the next five weeks, our children are aiming to clock up a collective 500 hours of reading. Not to be outdone, our school staff have stepped up to match that target too!
Fostering a genuine love for reading is at the absolute heart of our curriculum, and seeing the children so motivated to dive into their new books is wonderful. Let the five-week countdown begin!βœ¨πŸ“–

Huge congratulations to our Year 4 and Year 5 football teams who recently competed in the first-ever Greenway Partnership tournament! βš½πŸ†

The children played beautifully together, showing amazing resilience against some tough local teams. A special congratulations to one of our teams for winning the Fairplay Award, an award voted for by the other schools that highlights our core values of respect and teamwork!

We also have to give a massive thank you to our brilliant Year 6 referees, who took a break from their SATs prep to manage the games (and a very tense final!) like total pros. 🌟

Our school community is so proud of you all! πŸŽ‰

Year 5 have been busy becoming survival experts! πŸ”₯ Inspired by their class book - 'The Explorer' by Katherine Rundell, the children headed into our amazing forest area to master the flint and steel.

From building sturdy dens to toasting dough over the campfire, it’s been a week of building confidence and community in the great outdoors. We are so fortunate to have such a beautiful green space for our children to explore, have fun and grow.✨ 🌲 🏹

Fruit-filled fun at the Junior school! πŸ“πŸ

A massive thank you to Tesco for donating a mountain of apples and strawberries. Our children have been busy learning about healthy eating and were thrilled to take some extra treats home to share with their families.

We can’t wait to hear about the baking adventures happening this evening! πŸ₯§ 😊

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

And they’re off! Our Year 6 children have officially completed the first day of their SATs. We couldn’t be prouder of the calm, mature way they approached today.

At our school, we believe in celebrating the whole child. While these assessments check specific skills in English and Maths, they don’t measure how kind, creative, or resilient our children are, qualities they show every single day.

A message to our Year 6s:
You have worked so hard to build your skills and confidence. Take a deep breath and remember: you are more than a score. You are authors, athletes, scientists and friends. Keep that chin up and keep being your amazing selves!

We’ve got this! 🌟 ✍️ ✨
