This week's RYA Powerboat Level 2 course was a little different... and such a fun one to teach!

Two friends and one of their mums joined us for an all-female course here in beautiful Poole Harbour, and over two days it was brilliant to watch their confidence grow from their very first manoeuvres to confidently taking the helm.

One of the things I love most about being an instructor is seeing people realise they're far more capable than they thought. There's nothing quite like that moment when everything clicks and they leave knowing they can safely handle a powerboat.

Whether you're thinking about buying your own boat, want to gain confidence on the water, or need an RYA Powerboat Level 2 qualification to work towards your ICC (International Certificate of Competence) for boating abroad, we'd love to welcome you on board.

Blue skies don't always mean calm seas... ☀️🌊

This week's RYA Powerboat Level 2 course reminded us exactly why.

While the harbour stayed relatively sheltered, the strong easterly winds created a very different sea state once outside Poole Harbour.

It gave everyone the chance to experience how wind direction, wind strength and tide can completely change the conditions.
The result? Some fantastic real-world learning.

Each student had their own reason for taking the course:
⚓ A newly turned 16-year-old working towards becoming a dinghy instructor.
⚓ A regular holiday boat hirer wanting the confidence and qualification to hire abroad.
⚓ A paramedic preparing to support triathlon events on the water.

Two brilliant days with a great group of students, plenty of smiles and the kind of conditions that build genuine confidence—not just tick a box.

If you're thinking about learning to drive a powerboat, remember... the best training doesn't always happen on the calmest days.

Whether you are buying a boat or hiring one....

The RYA Powerboat Level 2 is a brilliant two day course giving you all the practical time at the helm and the knowledge needed to drive a boat safely.

It is also the first step in gaining a certificate to hire boats abroad.

Once you have achieved your PB2, you can then apply for an ICC - International Certificate of Competence, which is often what is required to hire boats in places like Spain, Greece, Ibiza...

After achieving your PB2 there is no need to keep hiring the pedalo 😂👍🏼 unless you reeeeally want to!!
