I do online Pilates with Olga Vikhrova. I like being at home and doing what feels like a private class. I find the exercises are correcting my posture and increasing my strength and suppleness without causing strain. They are both relaxing and energising and result in improved breathing. Olga's ballet background informs her method. I strongly recommend it for dancers and for general fitness.

Many people often tell me that they have genetic problems with their body like bad knees, shoulders or something else. People don’t know that my genetics aren’t the best and one of them is having bad knees along with other sicknessesMy mom has been in a wheelchair and have been using a walker for more than eight years. My dad had a stroke and was in a wheelchair for over 10 years before passing away 5 years ago. My sister passed away from stage 4 cervical cancer only 3 years ago at the age of 41.However the reason why I’m able to stay healthy and strong and have knees that are capable of running jumping and doing other dynamic movements is because I move frequently throughout every dayIf I don’t, my knees hurt and my body gets really stiff. I don’t move just because I like to. I move because my body needs it.There are many people out there that have good genetics and that don’t need to move as much as I do and their body feels fine. That’s not me. No matter what condition your body currently is at the moment, there’s always movements that you can do and that’s what you should focus on.The more you move, the more you are able to do more of it. The opposite is true.We are all going to die one day. Do you want to live the last years of your life not being able to move and enjoy life? Personally for me, I want to enjoy every last moment until the end.Everybody can do more movement for their body, but most people don’t because they haven’t built a daily habit for it.I created a 30 day Flow Challenge to help people get started because it’s simple to do. Plié. This is the main exercise in ballet exercise when we slowly bend and stretch knees. So true, keep on moving, strengthen your leg muscles supporting your knees.

Often Pilates associates with building abdominal strength and cure for the back pains. Amazingly, the fact that most exercises we do on the mat, it strengthen our legs. Legs are carry our body, keeping our balance and give us freedom. As a former ballet dancer, I know how to look after my feet and my legs.
