Tour Dorset’s Largest Mural
Date: Saturday 28 September
Tour times: 10am – 12pm and 2pm – 4pm (booking not needed)
Tour length: Approx. 20 mins
Where: Braidley Rd flyover, Bournemouth BH2 6JZ
Your chance to have a guided tour of Dorset’s largest (and newest) mural by the very artists that painted it.
Painted by dedicated staff and students from AUB in just five weeks this August, Dorset’s largest mural was announced officially open to the public on Monday 2 September.
A collaboration between BCP Council, LUSH, and AUB, directed by Bridie Cheeseman and Jake Williams from Studio Studio.
The project was a live brief set by AUB’s BA (Hons) Illustration for both Illustration and BA (Hons) Graphic Design students. The intention was to celebrate the ‘Creatives of Dorset’ by showcasing 15 local and varied creatives who have lived in, or have connections, to Bournemouth and the wider area.
Creative figures celebrated in the mural include; PJ Harvey, internationally renowned singer-songwriter born in Bridport, Millie Bobby Brown, a Hollywood Actor and Director who grew up in Bournemouth, and Adama Jalloh, an award-winning photographer who’s worked with the New York Times, New York Magazine, TATE, Financial Times, NIKE and more.
The tour will be run by Vincent Larkin, Course Leader for BA (Hons) Illustration at AUB, as well as some students who helped paint the mural, as part of this year’s Arts by the Sea festival.
