Selection of up to 65 new TaC beneficiaries ongoing right now. All applicants are interviewed and transparently ranked against academic, social and economic indicators. Unannounced home visits of those shortlisted are carried out by our volunteers to verify the obtained information.
The demand for our bursaries is bigger than ever. Young talents come from far, most of them partial or total orphans, accompanied by their guardians, teachers and sometimes well-wishers.
A scholarship by TaC covers three years of secondary school tuition, uniform, books and a modest pocket money. Message us if you wish to support a talent in Western Kenya.

Every year, the beneficiaries and volunteers of Teach a Child Africa gather for 3-4 days at the end of December to check on everyone’s wellbeing, to encourage peer exchange and to openly discuss important topics for schoolgoing teens. The TaC family is getting stronger every year!
We thank our loyal supporters who make this possible! This year, we were even able to provide new laptops to those graduates who made it to university after secondary school.

Thank you Linet Muidi for your heartwarming testimony yesterday at Teach a Child - Africa Switzerland about the importance of education to effectively fight poverty. Your candid storytelling has mobilized additional support for the young ones that are out there, desperately hoping to join a secondary school and not knowing how to afford it. Education for life! You are the living proof!

We cordially congratulate Simon upon his graduation! He shares his story with us:
"Hello TAC Family! I am Owino Simon Oduor, born and raised in Ugenya. I lost my mother at the age of 4 and was then taken in by my old grandfather. I remember that I had to sell charcoal to earn some money. Nevertheless, I started my education at Bar Odar Primary School. My primary school journey was greatly influenced by the headteacher at the time, Mr. Owuor Joshua. He gave me hope when things at home were almost falling apart.
When I reached class seven, he adopted me and hosted me at his home due to the challenges I was facing at home. With his support, I completed my primary education scoring 354 marks.
The most challenging moment came after my exams. My marks allowed me to proceed to secondary school, and I had an invitation letter by Sega Township Secondary School. However, Mr. Owuor insisted that I should attend a better school and one that offers boarding. The big question was how to finance that.
Thanks to his network, Mr. Owuor knew about the TAC Sponsorship Program. I attended the TAC interview and was indeed selected. TAC's support was comprehensive and came at the perfect time: TAC arranged for my admission to the excellent Kanga High School in 2015, where I studied without any financial constraints or disruption. After 4 years, I managed to score a B+ in my secondary school exams in 2018.
In 2019, I was called to join Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT), where I pursued a Bachelor of Science in Instrumentation and Control. I studied for four years and graduated successfully on 28th June 2024. Thank you, TAC, for being the main supporter during my academic journey! God bless TAC."

Relief, joy, pride - and possibly a little bit of disbelief. Meet some of the 38 newly recruited students by Teach a Child - Africa. They hold the proof of fee payment in their hands and are scheduled to report to secondary school on Monday. A big thanks to our supporters for making this happen!

TaC Volunteers in Western Kenya just finished the selection for 2024: out of 157 (!) applicants TaC is able to sponsor 37 young talents through four years of secondary school. A new record for us, but applications are also on an all-time high.
Applicants present themselves for an interview, ideally accompanied by their guardian, are shortlisted according to transparent criteria and finally visited unannounced at their homes to verify the information. The committee members drive miles on dust roads and walk through bush and fields to reach the homes, often mud houses.
Thank you volunteers! Thank you supporters!

Teach a Child Africa wishes you a happy new year 2024! We thank you for all your support over the year. The 2023 Annual Gathering brought together our 104 students currently at school, a solid delegation from our inspiring alumni and of course our Kenyan and international volunteers. It was a great learning experience! 🙏 🤝 🏫
