I have known Paddy since he was a little boy and had the pleasure of sharing time with him at various stages of his life .
To see him taking the lead on such a fantastic journey to share with the friends he has and those he’s yet to meet is simply wonderful.

It’s all about choice and connection.

Exploring the chimes with the feet opens up a whole new sensory experience. If someone naturally prefers to explore with their feet that’s their way of experimenting and feeling the vibrations.
Giving them the freedom to discover the chimes in the way that feels right for them supports choice, independence, sensory awareness and most importantly enjoyment! 🤩

Absolutely loved delivering resonance board training to this wonderful carer this week 🤩
Look at the enthusiasm and joy on her face ! The resonance board will now be another regular resource used appropriately for the young adults under her care.

Today is NATIONAL PLAY DAY 🤩🤩

We at the Play Prescription know that play should be included into every day in some way at each persons individual level and preference - but celebrating something nationally raises awareness so here we go !……….

Play cuts across all ages exactly as it should be.
Play is not a break from learning - Play IS learning - and that’s a two way thing !
Play is where curiosity grows, confidence blossoms, and everybody finds their own path to joy .
Play is not just for children. Adults love and NEED it too … WE ALL DO ! Keep moving in any way you can - be creative … share smiles on faces and in hearts ♥️
Play can be a solo opportunity but equally for many of the folk we work with it’s about learning together how to be an empathetic, joyful, confident , fun to be with play partner. 🤩

Remembering the quote from many years ago by George Bernard Shaw :

“We don’t stop playing because we grow old. We grow old because we stop playing.”

So to my wonderful and ever growing play prescription family I say once more ….
“Come on everybody - Let’s play !!”

What’s on my mind asks Facebook when you click in to make a post ….. ? Good question :

So I’m sat having clinical supervision(a requirement of working in this role) . The main topic of conversation is “HELP” !! 🤣
In a good way I know because The Play Prescription is thriving and growing and I’m continuing to meet awesome children and young adults . BUT …. I’m working to capacity with new referrals arriving frequently .
I recognise that I need to find a way to juggle all of this and not burn out because anyone who knows me knows how much I love what I do .
Supervision in itself makes you look at things outside of the box and examine what your purpose is.
My purpose has always been to empower others to find the key to a child’s/young adults world …… and then to unlock it.
I need to spend some quality time reflecting on how best I can do this with my usual solution focussed approach because there are people out there waiting whom I’d love to be able to reach but can’t at the moment .
Watch this space for how we move forward in a positive way for everyone.
Play should be shared . I will find a way to do that successfully . 😊

Read a post today warning ‼️ Of freezing squishy balls - some can explode when frozen 💥- I would hate for this to happen so will absolutely not recommend so let’s all find resources that are safe to play with cold 🥶! I shall be sticking to cool water play, with lights and maybe droplets of colour or ice cubes - and nice toys dropped in for people to find !
