OUR SCHOOL OUTREACH VISIT 📚 🏛️ 🕰️

We were delighted to present a history of our town at Upton Junior School on Wednesday. Your Mayor, Cllr Griffin, gave a full-school assembly for the children of Lytchett Minster and Upton at one of our fantastic local primary schools.

Himself an ex-teacher of History, Cllr Griffin told the young people about our town in WW2, the industry that used to employ our residents, and many other important, interesting parts of their heritage.

For instance: Did you know? In the 1950s, Upton Brickworks used to sell enough bricks to build a house for only £70 and 4 shillings!

If you would like to learn more about the history of our town, look out for our Heritage Trail plaques all around Lytchett Minster and Upton, and for more information, visit our website: https://www.lytchettminsterandupton-tc.gov.uk/heritagetrail

🚨DAMAGE TO GROUNDS AT UPTON LIBRARY 🚨

It is with sadness and great frustration that we are reporting on damage to the flowerbeds and land at Upton Library.

After tending to the beds and borders only yesterday, a member of our Outside Operations team has had to re-fill TWENTY THREE separate ditches make by bikes/e-bikes, which defaced the area, served as trip hazards, and sent debris onto the pavement.

This intentional, criminal damage counts as an act of vandalism, and it will be reported to the police. If anybody has information then we urge them to come forward and report it to [email protected].

Our Outside Operations team works all year round to ensure that Lytchett Minster and Upton continues to look tidy and litter-free; it is not only a disservice to them and their efforts, but is also a waste of Council resources that ultimately affects you – the tax payer – as a result.
