I’ve been calling out some of the nonsense in the fitness industry lately.
And I’ve been told I shouldn’t be doing that. That if I don’t have anything positive to say, I should say nothing at all. Someone even told me I’m not allowed to have an opinion on what other people do.
I get the championing-positivity idea. I do. But we’ve reached a point where calling out genuinely harmful advice gets you labelled as negative - and that’s a problem.
Letting absolute nonsense slide isn’t neutrality. When the advice is actively doing damage, staying quiet is a choice. And not a good one.
As for not being allowed to disagree with someone - disagreeing with an approach isn’t an attack. It’s just thinking. The idea that you have to either endorse something or say nothing is mental.
Having a different opinion to someone is not a bad thing. How you communicate it matters. Whether you have one doesn’t.
