☀️🌈☔️ This morning, we engaged in an exciting exploration of the different seasons and the importance of dressing appropriately for each type of weather. To assist us in learning about this topic, we conducted a fun sorting activity that involved using various pictures that represented each season, alongside a selection of different clothing images. ☔️🌈☀️
The children showed great enthusiasm as they discussed their thoughts and ideas with one another, working together to figure out the correct placements for each picture.
✨It was wonderful to see how confident they were in identifying the right spots for all the images, and they truly enjoyed the experience of helping one another throughout the activity. ✨

Among the many attractions, we had classic games such as tin can alley, ring toss, and a chance to 'win a fish', as well as an array of delicious treats that everyone could enjoy. This afternoon in Otters, we created a fun and engaging barber and hairdresser role-play area!
At this age, many children can find having their hair cut a little challenging, so we set up our own barber and hairdressing station to help build confidence through play. The children explored a variety of tools that supported their gross motor development while enjoying imaginative role-play with their friends.
We saw some fantastic hairstyles created on each other, as well as on the adults in the room! Everyone had lots of fun taking turns being the hairdresser and the customer.
Alongside the role-play, the children also practised their counting skills, communication and language skills, and colour recognition.
It was wonderful to see so much learning taking place through such an enjoyable activity! ✨

Sweet summer strawberries 🍓 ✨
Recently the babies enjoyed exploring some of the strawberries and mint that have been growing in our garden.
Upon inspection, we noticed that some of the strawberries had already been enjoyed by caterpillars.
To explore this further, we read The Very Hungry Caterpillar to help the children understand why there were holes in some of the fruit.
For all of the clean strawberries, the children then chose whether to use a wooden, metal, or plastic safety knife and confidently chopped the fruit. It was wonderful to observe their growing independence and the sense of achievement they felt from completing the task themselves.
Initially, we thought the children would enjoy the strawberries at snack time. However, as the activity was child-led, they became engrossed in cutting the strawberries into smaller pieces, counting them, and placing them into a jug with the fresh mint. This naturally evolved into creating a refreshing summer fruit-infused water.
Throughout the activity, the children developed their fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, counting skills, decision-making, and understanding of where food comes from, while engaging in meaningful, hands-on learning experiences. ✨
