Stress at work affects thousands of people every year - but simple, practical steps can help prevent it from becoming a bigger problem.
HSE’s Management Standards highlight six areas that can contribute to work-related stress when they’re not managed well: workload and demands, control, support, relationships, role and change.
Often, problems can start small - unclear expectations, rising pressure, limited support or changes that haven’t been properly explained.
Talking early and understanding the risks can help employers take action before pressure builds.
The Working Minds campaign gives employers practical tools to:
🔸 Spot early signs of stress
🔸 Have better conversations
🔸 Build wellbeing into everyday work
🔸 Take action early
