Thank You Teacher Garden Party.

A huge thank you to all our families and friends who joined us this afternoon for our Garden Party as we celebrated Thank You Teacher Day.

We had a wonderful time together making decorations for our Thank You Tree, creating beautiful butterflies, mixing magical potions, and sowing seeds to take home and grow.

It was also lovely to meet our special guest, Keziah Hayes-Roper, who presented us with an award recognising us as a Silver Winner Finalist for "Early Years Team of the Year" in the Pearson National Teaching Awards. We are incredibly proud of this achievement and grateful for the recognition of our team's dedication and hard work.

A special cake was made to mark the occasion, and it truly was a wonderful afternoon filled with celebration, creativity, and community spirit.

Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the event so memorable.

Partnership working with Friday Friendship.

Some of the children joined the lovely people at the Penlee Family Project on Friday to continue creating the lovely cardboard garden they had started for us.

Together we talked about all the different fruits and vegetables we are growing in the polytunnel here at Heartlands, and how special it is to be able to pick fresh produce straight from the garden. The children enjoyed colouring and cutting out vegetables to add to our wonderful cardboard garden display, using their creativity and imagination throughout the session.

We finished our time together with a game of Bingo, lots of laughter, and plenty of smiles.

Sessions like these are so important in helping children build confidence, creativity, communication, and connections with others. They encourage learning through play, strengthen friendships, and help children develop an understanding of healthy food, nature, and community.

Partnership working at Little Hearts.

A massive 'Thank You to one of our wonderful parents who has been coming into Little Hearts to support the children with their fine motor skills, hand-eye co-ordination and their concentration.

Slywia has created the most amazing and creative activity using handmade cardboard shirts and dresses, where the children use different stitches to attach buttons. The children have been so engaged, developing their hand strength, coordination and focus whilst having lots of fun.

We were absolutely blown away by the effort and care that went into making all of the beautiful cardboard cut-outs and an incredible 200 cardboard buttons too.

Thank you so much for your kindness, creativity and support. The children are loving the activities and we are so grateful for the time and thought you have put into making such wonderful learning experiences for them.

Nature Play at Little Hearts

We recently applied for the 'Learning through Landscapes Nature Play Programme', and we are delighted to share that our application was successful.

As part of the programme, we are being supported by Nelly who is a Nature Play Practitioner who will deliver training sessions for our team.

This will enable us to enhance our outdoor provision, ensuring children benefit from more opportunities to explore, investigate, take risks and develop a lifelong connection with nature

We have also received an amazing range of outdoor clothing for both children and staff, helping us make the most of outdoor learning in every season and all weather conditions.

We are one of only a small number of nurseries selected for this wonderful opportunity and look forward to gaining valuable training and expertise that will help us enrich our outdoor provision and support our children.

What a busy and exciting term we have had at nursery.

The children have enjoyed so many wonderful learning experiences — from a special visit from Mark the miner, to growing our own vegetables and exploring the community with visits to Tesco and the Penlee Family Project.

We have also been getting creative by making clay snails and creating our very own prints in clay, with lots of fun, imagination, and messy hands along the way.

The children loved expressing themselves through music and movement too, creating their own dances and pretending to be different animals, stomping, slithering, hopping and roaring their way through lots of lively activities.

Now it is time for a well-earned half term break. We hope all our families have a wonderful and relaxing week.

We are already looking forward to our final term before the summer holidays, which will be full of even more learning, fun, and adventures.

We had a fantastic visit at nursery again from Mark the miner, who used to work down our local mine.

Mark shared some amazing stories about his time underground, showed us special rocks, and let us try on real mining gear including gloves, safety hats, and goggles!

The children even had the chance to climb a 100-year-old ladder and use a stretcher to carry an “injured” friend to safety . Such an exciting hands on experience.

Mark was incredible to listen to, so engaging and full of fascinating stories about life in the mine. The children (and staff!) were completely captivated.

A huge 'thank you' to Mark and Cornish Metals for making this unforgettable visit possible. We learned so much and had so much fun.

Last term, we thoroughly enjoyed a fantastic collaborative partnership with some of the Art students at Cornwall College.

The students visited Little Hearts and spent time with the children, sharing their chosen core book, Goldilocks and the Three Bears.

It was a wonderful opportunity for the children to engage with the story and meet the students behind the project.

Following their visit, the students worked together to create a truly amazing story sack inspired by the book. The children have absolutely loved exploring it and bringing the story to life through play.

A massive 'Thank You' to all the students and their tutor Hazel for their creativity, thoughtfulness, and time in creating such a special resource for our setting.

Last week, we enjoyed a wonderful visit to Tesco Extra with the children, linked to our core book Handa’s Surprise.

The children had great fun exploring the store and shopping for the different fruits from the story. They were so engaged as they spotted familiar fruits and helped choose what to add to our basket.

To bring the story to life even further, the children even tried balancing the fruits on their heads, just like Handa in the book.

Lots of laughter and learning along the way.

It was a fantastic hands on experience that helped the children connect the story to the real world in such a meaningful and memorable way.

We so enjoy our weekly visits to Tesco Extra at Pool

Each week, the children from Little Hearts Nursery head out with their shopping list in hand, ready to explore, learn, and take part in real-life experiences. These trips have become such an important and exciting part of our routine.

We are always given the warmest welcome by the team, and a very special thank you goes to Mel, the Community Champion, who consistently goes above and beyond to support us. Her kindness and enthusiasm make every visit extra special.

These outings are so valuable for the children. Helping them build confidence, develop social skills, and feel respected and included within their community.

Thank you for making us feel so welcome each and every week.
