Corbey Construction are very proud of our record and commitment to the training of Apprentices and our excellent working relationships with Truro and Penwith College and Cornwall College.
We are really pleased to have our first female Apprentice Bricklayer, Tegan Kitchen, who has been with us for just over six months and she attends Cornwall College in Camborne
Tegan has worked on a couple of sites, from big to small and has also worked with face brick and natural stonework as well as our staple diet of blockwork.
She’s a very likeable and dependable girl, maintains a great standard of work and should be proud of what she has achieved so far. She’s got a bright future ahead of her as a Bricklayer.
Here’s what Tegan has to say;
* What made you decide to undertake a Bricklaying Apprenticeship.
I always knew I wanted to be in a trade and I feel like I chose the right trade for me to do a apprenticeship in and to become a qualified bricklayer.
* What made you choose Corbey Construction as a potential employer
I picked Corbey Construction as a potential employer when I applied for the apprenticeship as they have a good reputation in the trade and I’m in the best place to learn from my gang.
* In your own words describe how your first 6 months has gone, and how much you have learnt already.
The first six months have flown by and I’ve loved every minute of it when I first started I didn’t even know how to use a tape measure correctly or never picked up a trowel now I’m on the trowel laying brick block and stone.
* What’s the best thing about working for Corbey Construction.
The best thing about working for Corbey Construction for me is everyone’s great to get on with we have a laugh but we put the work in and it’s nice to be able to be proud of the work and being taught to a high standard.
* What are you most excited about when you become a qualified bricklayer in the future
I’m most excited about when I become qualified is having a job, potentially maybe starting my own company in the long run.
