Not sure who wrote this but thought these are poignant words.

Christmas isn't cancelled, that isn't what they said.
It's not quite how we want it, how we planned it in our head.
But the tree sits in the corner, and the lights upon it glow,
Our children are excited, Slade's still on the radio.
And although we may feel that our life’s been torn apart,
We can smile for a while, and hide our broken hearts.
Lets make our Christmas magical, so our children will remember,
The special days we spent together in 2020's December.
Santa will still come, though his sleigh, it may be light,
As you couldn't quite afford what in other years you might.
But it's not about the presents, nor who’s missing from the room,
It's about a little spark of happiness in a year of doom and gloom.
There will still be smiles and laughter, and I'm sure there will be tears,
As through this bleak mid-winter we're confronted by our fears.
These words have been said before but they seem more resonating now,
That through next year we all will be together if the fates allow,
And until then we will have to muddle through somehow,
It's not quite a 'Merry' Christmas, but we can make it not so bad,
I hope that it is happy, but it's okay to still be sad.
And maybe you wont see it now, but a memory from this year,
Will flash up in the future and fill you with good cheer.
One day this will be over, and I hope for lots of fun,
In a Christmas spent together again in 2021.
