Splashing, pouring, scrubbing... water play looks simple, but so much is happening underneath.

Every jug filled builds hand-eye coordination. Every toy scrubbed clean develops fine motor control. Every splash shared with a friend is a lesson in social play. That's the beauty of the Foundation Phase in action: children learning through the things that feel most like fun.

Our little ones saving animals and building barns, sorting and scooping their way through skill-building play, and celebrating our Big Adventurers in the most wonderful way - caps, gowns, and the biggest smiles you've ever seen.

Take a peek at some of the recent activities the children have been enjoying at Building Blocks Nursery, near Pontyclun and Llantrisant.

From colour sorting with tweezers and coloured bowls, which quietly builds fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination, to a "Save the Animals" rescue mission where children worked together to free toy animals and build them a safe barn, every activity has a purpose behind it.

Play-based learning is at the heart of early years education, and it's something our team have been nurturing for over 25 years. When a child is fully absorbed in sorting, building, or problem-solving, they're developing concentration, creativity, and confidence - all within a warm, supportive environment where they feel safe to explore.

That's what we mean when we say every activity has its purpose.

Caps, gowns, leaving bags, and the biggest smiles - our July graduates did us so proud! 🎓

Watching these little ones walk out ready for school is one of the most bittersweet moments of our year. We've loved every single one of them, and sending them off with a piece of Building Blocks in their hearts (and on their t-shirts!) means the world to us.

To our graduates and their families - thank you for trusting us with your children. It has been the greatest privilege to be part of their story.
