First trip of the year!🚜🐄🌾
First week in college at Northumberland College and we are already on a trip!

Today we went to Blagdon estate, we explored the dairy and processing unit that is used for the milk vending machines. Then we took a tractor and trailer ride to explore the rest of the estate, looking at herbal lays, grazing incorporated into crop rotations, turkeys, machinery, and the white parks on the hill!

Thank you we had the best day

Meet Nicky ….

Nicky helps support students with their placements for their course and supports students through their time with us. She also is a great person to have a chat to.

Nicky is really enthusiastic about agriculture at Northumberland College, and is always promoting us and spreading the good word of what we get up to. She is a hero!

Cow 🐮 : British Shorthorn, because they are so versatile, the kind of cow every smallholder would have to produce the calf for meat. Fresh milk, butter, and cheese for the house and market.

Sheep 🐑 : I have two breeds of sheep- The Norfolk Horn, for its hardiness and wool production and it’s my home County. The Shetland for its amazing fine wool and tender lean meat.

Crop🌾: Is Oats - I love Porridge and using oats in baking.
