Tonight we said a fond farewell to FS Jacob Powell who is moving up north to start a degree apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering with BAE Systems.

Our OC said of FS Powell 'During his four years as a cadet here, FS Powell has been a popular and charismatic member of the squadron. We're sad to see him go but I am glad that his experience with us will serve him in his exciting new career.'

After being presented with a gift from his fellow cadets and taking final parade for the last time, FS Powell (willingly) took part in the 23 Squadron tradition of getting gunged by his peers.

Good luck in your future endeavours FS Powell.

Today we hosted our colleagues from 362 Elm Tree Squadron - Open Page for a morning of archery practice ahead of the wing competition next month.

The session began with a safety briefing from our Archery GB qualified staff before the cadets had some rounds developing their skills. In the second half of the morning, they (and the staff!) put those new-found skills to the test with some games.

This weekend has been a busy one for us!

Yesterday we ran archery as a concurrent activity in support of the wing rounders trials. This allowed cadets from across South & West Yorkshire Wing to participate in an archery taster session between their games.

Today we celebrated our squadron's 25th anniversary with a service held at St Mary's Church South Elmsall, led by our squadron's chaplains, Mother Emily and Padre Mark Reynolds. We can't wait to see what the next 25 years will bring!

Happy Yorkshire Day everyone and a happy Birthday to us as well reach the grand age of 25 years as a squadron today. On 1st August 2001 the squadron held a parade to mark us officially being granted squadron status and receiving the 23 number. We've had an amazing quarter century with hundreds of cadets and staff passing through our doors over this time. Many have gone on to serve in the RAF (or other services) whilst others have stayed with the ATC as staff.

Today we attended the Wing Training Day, where we participated in a number of competitions, including banner, STEM and first aid, against other squadrons from across the wing.

We're proud to announce that our Stem team placed first. Well done!
