Ash Wednesday

Although our schools are closed for half term, we would usually gather together as school communities to observe Ash Wednesday and begin the season of Lent.

Before the break, the BKCAT primary school pupils prepared and shared a special liturgy with their school communities, allowing us to mark this important day together in prayer and reflection.

We invite you to watch and follow along with the liturgy as we enter this sacred season of Lent.

“Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return.”
Genesis 3:19

Let us pray:

Lord God,
as we begin this season of Lent,
help us to grow in kindness, compassion and faith.
Guide us to reflect on our actions,
to care for those in need,
and to walk more closely with you each day.
Amen.

Congratulations to Anna, Michael, Alex and Tom (Y9). Our Students won the IRIS National KS3 Prize for Best Science Research Project - tracking the movement patterns of orphaned elephants across Zambia's Kafue National Park. The award was presented in London. Superb achievement.

📻 BBC Radio 4 Sunday Worship – Pentecost: Pilgrims of Hope

This Sunday 9th June at 8:10am, BBC Radio 4 will broadcast a special Pentecost edition of Sunday Worship, recorded earlier this year in the stunning setting of Leeds Cathedral.

🎤 We’re incredibly proud to share that a St Wilfrid’s Sixth Form student (photographed) will feature in the programme, offering a heartfelt personal reflection as part of The Twelve – the Diocese of Leeds Youth Leadership Team. Her voice represents the faith, hope and leadership of young people across our Diocese.

🙏 Titled Pentecost: Pilgrims of Hope, the service showcases the spirituality, creativity and commitment of over 600 pupils from Catholic schools across the Diocese – including many from our BKCAT family of schools. It’s a joyful celebration of faith and unity, brought to life by the voices and contributions of our young people.
