Nursery to Year 6 pupils threw themselves into a magical celebration of Shakespeare Week, inspired by the works of William Shakespeare. The week began on Monday with an engaging introductory assembly, sparking curiosity and excitement across the school. On Tuesday, every class took part in a lively workshop based on A Midsummer Night’s Dream, exploring its characters, humour and enchanting storyline.
Wednesday brought adventure, as pupils followed a treasure hunt around the school, searching for symbols from three of Shakespeare’s iconic plays and using their knowledge to identify them. On Thursday, the fun continued with creative lunchtime activities, including quill writing to experience what it might have been like to write in Shakespearean times, and inventing wonderfully silly Shakespearean insults!
The week culminated on Friday with a spectacular whole-school performance of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, where pupils from Nursery to Year 6 confidently performed using traditional Shakespearean language. We were incredibly impressed by their enthusiasm, willingness and growing confidence. It was a superb end to the week—and hopefully the first of many Shakespeare Weeks to come!
