A beautiful day saw two squads of players take on two teams from Pro Elite.

Some of the stuff played across the two games was top class, and we are so excited to work with this group of players, along with the ones we already have.

We do still have a couple of spaces available for the right people, so if you want to get involved, please get in touch.

I've watched the majority of yesterday's game back, and I'm still as dumbfounded as to how we came away with a 3-1 loss.

Can't fault the effort levels again, but we missed so many clear chances yesterday, which ultimately cost us. That, and a 10 minute period where we conceded territory and our hosts took advantage.

A missed penalty, 3 open goals, a couple of decent saves and then probably 4 chances we have to take, only warranted one goal for us.

Another half decent performance and if we come away with a 6-0/6-1 win, nobody could have grumbled.

No time to lick our wounds, we host a South Shields team tomorrow who are flying at the moment, so it will be a great test.

What a beautiful day for it!

Sun is shining as the Scholars prepare for tomorrow's trip to Darlington in the National Youth Alliance League.

Well done to our Scholars; Jay, Baden, Logan and Billy S. As well as our future Scholar Jay H, and some younger Colls players, who completed their officiating course this week with West Riding County FA, at the Hunters Stadium. They join several other learners who have their officiating qualification, so look out for them on a pitch near you soon!

Another fantastic day for the Scholars, as we continue our superb run of form.

Today, we had two games. Our Youth Alliance squad travelled to Oldham Athletic, and were very worthy winners in a 2-1 victory.

We should have been at least 3-0 up in the first half as our high press won us some fantastic opportunities, however we were not able to capitalise until Max’s corner evaded everyone and went straight into the goal.

Oldham, with their only notable shot of the game equalised a couple of minutes later when they dispatched a penalty.

Into the 2nd half and we again, dominated. A fantastic team move saw the 2nd goal as Todd finished off an exquisite move. We should have added to our tally, but only had a one goal cushion to defend. Positively, we were able to do this without too much fuss to get the 3 points.

Well done all.

In the other game, another squad of players played host to Thomas Rotherham College. The first half saw the Colls defend resolutely against a strong wind, and we were happy to go in 0-0 at half time. The 2nd half, the young Colls turned on the style, and a penalty from Sam opened the scoring, before a hat trick from Lennon and a goal each for Logan and Harrison C sealed a 6-0 victory in what was a ruthless 2nd half.

Well done for both sets of players for their performances today.

Yesterday, the young Colls entertained top of the table Harrogate Town.

We knew Harrogate were a top, top team, so we worked hard on our defensive shape and press in the week leading up to the game.

That side of our game was amazing, and the players worked so hard off of the ball. We actually won the ball high up the pitch on several occasions, but in our haste to take advantage, made slight mistakes with the final pass so didn't get to capitalise fully.

0-0 at half time.

The 2nd half and we had more quality on the ball. This matched with the same intensity off of the ball meant the game was played much higher up the pitch and we eventually took one of our turnovers when pressure forced the keeper to go long. Pounder picked up the loose pass, before feeding to Todd. He played the ball into Cam who's lovely first touch created half a yard before firing into the bottom corner. This was just rewards for another amazing performance from Cameron. His development (alongside others), has been remarkable this season.

We continued in a similar fashion and had a couple of scenarios to put the game to bed, but good defending or poor choice of final pass meant Harrogate stayed in the game.

The last 10 minutes of normal time saw Harrogate gain more territory and put pressure on the Colls goal. Their striker flashed a half chance across the face of goal, and they should have scored when a delightful cross found the striker at the back post, but his volley couldn't find it's way into the net. The desire the Colls showed to keep the ball out of the net was outstanding and a couple of goal mouth scrambles during the 90 mins emphasised this.

We went into the last of 4 minutes added time, and the Colls defended several balls into the box. As the end of the 94th minute came and went, one last ball came into the box, we didn't quite clear and a challenge saw the Harrogate player fouled and a penalty awarded.

The striker slotted the penalty home, and as soon as we kicked off the full time whistle went.

The development of this young set of players has been sensational over the past couple of months, and that result means it is only one defeat in the last 6 games. We travel to Oldham Athletic next week in the Youth Alliance League.

On Monday we travel to Maltby Academy in the Sheffield Flexi League.

Well done all.

The young Colls drew 1v1 with Eccleshill in the Youth Alliance League on Wednesday. A very disappointing first half, by our recent standards saw us go in 1 behind.

2nd half we were a lot better and got an equaliser through Cameron, but despite dominating and having several good chances, we couldn't force a winner and the spoils were shared.

A tough test this week, as we host top of the table Harrogate Town.

A tough day at the office for the young Colls, as we came up against a good Gateshead team.

We travelled North on a 3 match unbeaten streak, but as often has been the case this season, changes to the starting line up, and squad were needed due to unavailability.

This gave us the chance to bring in 2 year 11 players, who will be on the Programme next year. A massive well done to Harry and Alfie, who both did very well, and Alfie even got a beauty of a goal (see video).

The first goal of the game came when a corner wasn't dealt with, and fell 6 yards out for the Gateshead player to smash home. It was 2-0 shortly after when a long range effort slipped through Riley's grasp and went in. Colls actually then had some great spells and created several good openings, but never really tested the keeper. That was until we kept the ball alive from a corner, and Alfie showed superb awareness to create an opening and fire into the bottom corner.

The game ebbed and flowed in the 2nd half, and a little more quality in the final 3rd was the difference. A few half chances came and went for the Colls, and Gateshead punished with a well worked 3rd. A 4th followed from a free header from a corner and a 5th near the end flattered the hosts. Alfie again worked well on the edge and forced a fine save from the Gatshead number 1, and an excellent last ditch tackle stopped Cam's follow up, but in truth the better team won on the day.

We worked hard, had good spells, but were beaten by a team with that extra bit of quality on the day.

We entertain Eccleshill in two weeks, as we look to get back into a run of positive results.

The goal that won us Wednesday’s game.

Excellent work by Charlie, who fed Pounder to expertly finish.
