Last week, the children enjoyed a creative and hands-on understanding of the world activity where they worked together to make a volcano using plaster mix!🌋

Children carefully mixed materials, discussing the changes they observed as the plaster combined and hardened. Once the volcano was dry, the children used paints to decorate it, expressing their preferences, creativity and developing their fine motor skills⭐

To complete the experiment, the children helped prepare the ingredients which made the volcano bubble and erupt!💥
We spoke about safety around this activity, discussing how lava is hot and we shouldn't touch hot things because this may hurt us.

Children showed great excitement and curiosity throughout the activity, exploring early scientific concepts such as mixing, changes, and cause and effect of actions.

This activity supported communication and language, teamwork, problem-solving, and an interest in the world around them. Well done everyone! ⭐

Good morning everyone,

We are having difficulty with our Famly app this morning and therefore unable to sign children in and upload meals etc.

We are making a paper record of this and will upload everything when we are able to do so. We apologise for the inconvenience.

Thank you very much⭐️

🍪National Biscuit Day🍪

On Friday, the children enjoyed celebrating National Biscuit Day by making their own shortbreads and decorating them to take home and enjoy!

Children helped to weigh out all ingredients, mix them in a bowl and roll out the dough, followed by choosing a cutter of their choice for the shape of their shortbread⭐

🐝 Bumble Bee Day 🐝

On May 20th, the children had lots of fun learning about bumble bees and the insects around them. They enjoyed decorating bumble bee pictures and creating their own bees using paint and sponges. We also worked together to make a bumble bee hive, which the children decorated themselves.

During the day, we talked about how bees collect nectar, make honey, and how they use it for food. The children were especially excited when we found a real bumble bee in the garden! Leah carefully held it so the children could safely observe it up close, sparking lots of curiosity and conversation.

Learning about insects is an important part of early development, as it helps children understand the natural world around them, develop respect for living things, and begin to learn how to care for the environment and protect wildlife🌼🐝

🍩 Doughnut Week Fun at nursery 🍩

This week we are celebrating 'Doughnut Week', and the children have been getting hands-on with making their very own doughnuts! 🌟

Our little learners have enjoyed:

✨ Mixing ingredients and following simple instructions

✨ Rolling and shaping dough

✨ Decorating their very own doughnuts with icing sugar

✨ Talking about textures, smells, and changes during cooking

This is a wonderful opportunity to support early mathematics skills (measuring and counting), language development (describing what we see and do), and fine motor skills (mixing, rolling, and decorating).

The children are all looking forward to trying their doughnuts at home 🍩

Over the last couple of weeks at Nursery, children have enjoyed a range of different activities - we have explored 'Dear Zoo' through a sensory tuff tray, where the children explored different textures🐘

To celebrate purple day, the children mixed together paints using different tools to make purple and had lots of fun mark making! We have also explored other types of mark making, through printing with sponges and pushing cars through our paint to see what marks the wheels can make💜🚙

We have used pipets to transfer colourful watered down paint onto cotton wool, developing children's natural curiosity to explore, enhancing fine motor skills and colour recognition🌈

Children enjoyed painting their hands to make Easter chick pictures🐣

Our older children have enjoyed spotting letters, using the tips of their fingers to practice letter formation in the sand🌟
