A little bit (a lot) about me
I have over 20 years experience working with children and families.👵
I worked for a charity called FSN in Hastings as a playworker at a crèche, a fun bus and playgroup. Then I worked as a leader of a 2-3 room where I became a toilet training champion and took an NVQ 3 in childcare.
Then I worked in their new nursery in a children's centre as a deputy manager and completed a foundation degree in Early Years Learning and Development.
I covered maternity leave as a manager there before finally leaving to manage a couple of private nurseries. At this time I topped up my foundation degree to a full BA in Professional Studies in Learning and development.
In addition to these qualifications I have taken numerous short courses on various aspects of early years such as schema, Makaton and observation. I regularly renew my safeguarding and first aid certificates.
When I was pregnant with my first son I took a job as college lecturer at Sussex College teaching Childcare and Health and Social Care Btecs. While there I became a qualified teacher for over 14 years olds.
A few years later I had my second son and decided to become a childminder so I could manage school runs and have as much time as I could with my new baby.
Now my babies are 9 and 5 years old and both at school.
I love childminding. It enables me to do the school runs and be home after school to hear about their day and cook dinner.
While they arrived at school I have my dog Juno and cat Jim for company as well as the mindees.
I get to play all day! Its the best job I've ever had 😀
