Rascals R Us Childcare Welcome to Rascals R Us. I except all government funding. I am paediatric first aid and safeguarding trained.

Hi I'm Karen & I offer home from home childcare for children of all ages in a nuturing environment full of learning opportunities through play & daily adventures. I am an OFSTED registered childminder, graded 'good' by Ofsted & parent of 4 with over 30 years experience.I have NVQ level 3 in Health & Social care & hold a current DBS. I offer home from home childcare, a nurturing environment full of learning opportunities through play but most of all we have fun. I try to cater to everyones individual needs so please don't hesitate to ask :-)

Today at the Eastbourne Extra in the community. room along with our friends Ali's & Little Learners Childminding 👧🏻🧒🏼👩🏻‍🦰 we had puzzles 🧩 to complete. These help with problem solving & critical thinking 🤔 using trial and error to figure out why pieces do or do not fit.
The Little Rascals & friends also created wonderful scarecrow pictures using fusilli pasta, spagetti & lentils. Picking these up encourages the children to use their thumb & index finger 🤏 which helps develop the tripod grasp which is needed for writing ✍️
Pasta also offers an incredible variety of shapes & textures (smooth, ridged) as well as a great sensory exploration they can also scoop 🪏 & pour 🫗 from one bowl 🍵 to another which is great for hand-eye coordination 🖐👁

Today we joined our friends Little Learners Childminding 🧑‍🦰🧒🏼👩🏼👧🏻 for a fun trip to one of our local parks 🛝
Shinewater Park playground has a natural themed area as well as a toddler area including sensory play panels.
Sensory play panels help young children build motor skills and explore textures. These interactive boards support learning through touch 🤚 sight 👀 & sound 👂
The play equipment helps develop gross motor skills 💪 balance ⚖️ coordination & upper body strength. It encourages turn taking & sharing .
After lunch The Little Rascals & friends enjoyed the 'Dear Zoo' 🐘🦒🦁🐪🐍🐒🐸🐶
story which was great for practicing new adjectives (too big, tall, fierce, grumpy, scary, naughty, jumpy),

A great day at Sheffield Park and Garden NT 🌲 with our friends Little Learners Childminding & Ali's. We didn't let the rain 🌧 stop us having so much fun exploring the woods 🌳looking at all the leaves & how they are changing colour🍃🍂 Playing in the nature park where we climbed, jumped, tapped the flower statue 🌸 to make a tune 🎵 & ran through the tunnel. We sat quietly & read the Listening Walk story 📖 whilst using our ears 👂 to listen to sounds around us. On our walk back we saw ducks 🦆 swans 🦢 & a beautiful peacock 🦚

A free play day at the Eastbourne Extra in the community. space today. The Little Rascals, Little Learners Childminding & Ali's 👫 are learning as they play. They had a variety of activities to explore:
🛒 Finding hidden items on a shopping list & putting them in a bag 🛍
🧱 Stickle Bricks - support sensory exploration, physical development, and creative play.
⛺️ Tent & Tunnel - crawling & ducking through tunnels builds core strength, balance, coordination, and spatial awareness.
🥁 Musical Instruments - helps develop rhythm & coordination.
🧲 Magnetic Tiles - problem-solving & developing fine motor skills
🎡 Happyland - Imaginative play & encourages talk through scenarios, invent dialogue, and build vocabulary.

Where have all those years gone?We've had so many adventures during those 36 years! Looking forward to many more. 🤩

Another great outdoor activity at Polegate Grasshoppers FCs ⚽️ home ground with our friends Little Learners Childminding & Ali's 👭👫
The Little Rascals ripped & scrunched tissue paper & glued it 🖌 onto paper to create an acorn picture. This builds hand muscle control 🤌 which is needed for pencil grip and pencil control.✍️
They also had a great time conker 🌰 rolling down ramps & through kitchen roll tubes.
This activity helps them explore gravity, and cause and effect by seeing how steepness affects the speed of the roll.Releasing the conkers 🌰 and tracking their movement helps hand-eye coordination 🖐👁 fine motor control 🤏 and gross motor skills 💪🦵 It also helps with early maths 🔢 by counting how many conkers roll down the ramp.

A great day spent at Paradise Park 🦖 with Ali's & Little Learners Childminding 🧑‍🦰👧🏽👧🏻 A walk around the museum & gardens 🪴looking 👀 & talking about 🗣 all the wonderful things we could see as we followed the life story of our world 🌍 from its earliest beginnings to the present day.
After a lunch recharge we enjoyed some time in soft play 🛝 & a dinosaur walk. 🦕 Most of all we had fun with our friends 🤩

Little Learners Childminding & Vicky's met us at Hampden Park to collect conkers 🌰 & look for the signs of Autumn 🍂🍁🪾
🌏 Understanding the World (The Natural World):
Children can observe seasonal changes, notice how the leaves turn color, and investigate how the shiny conker hides inside a spiky green shell.
🗣 Communication and Language:
We used lots of descriptive vocabulary like smooth/prickly, shiny/dull, and heavy/light
🔢 Maths:
Counting the conkers & recognising if they were big or small.
💪 Physical Development (Fine Motor Skills):
Bending to pick up conkers to put in the bucket 🪣 with hands utilizes the index finger and thumb (pincer grasp),🤏 which is foundational for learning how to hold a pencil ✍️ or use cutlery.🍴
