My daughter has always hated maths and with her dyscalculia (equivalent dyslexia but with numbers) we have not even hoped
for her to pass GCSEs and even school's target grade was 3!
She has worked hard but never managed to keep above this dreaded target of 3, awaiting complete failure in her maths GCSE
and most likely no chance to go to uni or do her A levels biology with entry level requirement being GCSE 5 in maths.
But she didn't want to give up and asked me to find her a math tutor. To cut this long story shorter.
Claire had a slot for us and my daughter started her weekly sessions in November in her GCSE year. Did I mention she always
hated maths? Did I mention that she got grade 3 in her mock GCSE? By January with weekly sessions something changed. She loved every lesson with Claire and by February parents evening she was already targeted to achieve 4 in maths. That still wasn't enough for her dream biology A levels but she carried on working with Claire, each week 1 or 2 hours until the week before her exams. Claire was amazing, she kept my daughter motivated, she never let her give up. By April school even suggested her target grade in maths GCSEs could be 5.
They were right! She passed, she got her 5 in maths, she is doing A level biology. I have now asked Claire to keep a place for my younger child for next year. We couldn't do it without her help. Big big thank you Claire!

I highly recommend Claire as a Maths tutor. As someone who struggled with maths I had previously failed my GCSE exam and lost my confidence and liking for the subject. But with Claire's specialised teaching I was able to focus on the topics I struggled the most with. There is no judgement on your ability and with her patience after each lesson I became more and more confident. Also, I was looking forward to each lesson. With Claires help I realised that passing GCSE Maths is not impossible as I have now passed my GCSE.

If your son or daughter is struggling with maths at school, tutoring can make a huge difference. My pupils not only greatly improve their mathematical understanding and confidence, they even start to enjoy a subject many of them used to dread. If you would like to give your child that extra help with this vital subject, please get in touch. I have very limited spaces available each school year and fill them quickly!

A great set of results this year for my amazing students. One student (below) failed at her first attempt in Year 11 but with tuition and hard work, passed in June 24. Other students I worked with got wonderful results as well.

For many parents, helping their child or children with maths is a source of stress. Sometimes it all seems so confusing and vague. What are they supposed to be able to do, and by what age? This link is really useful. It breaks down the maths curriculum by age and is about as straightforward as it can be. If you can't afford tuition, but are really struggling with homework battles, give me a call. I'm always happy to talk on the phone and see if I can offer some words of advice that might ease the journey! No charge!

A card I received on GCSE results day from a wonderful student who was getting level 2s in maths but who went on to get a strong level 4. 🤩

Hardworking and conscientious student "P" who just got a strong 5 in her GCSE maths after doing 6 sessions a month with me from January until the exams. P was previously really finding maths difficult and stressful. She kindly agreed to do a video reference for me and I think that is super brave her of. This young woman is amazing. 😄

Pupil H's reference: "I’ve just finished year 11 after completing my exams. I felt confident and calm throughout these exams whereas just months before I felt like I wouldn’t even be able to walk into the room where I’d be taking them. This is all thanks to Claire and the amazing way she tutored me in the run up to the exams. I’d recommend anyone thinking about starting tutoring to go with Claire!

H got a 4 in his Maths GCSE, having got a 2 in his January mocks. He then started weekly sessions with me. Congratulations H!
