Cost of living support

The rising cost of living is a real worry for hard-working and struggling households in Plymouth and across the country.

Here you will find links to the help that is on offer - from financial support including information about benefits or help with budgeting, to where to go to get help with gas and electricity bills, help with housing costs, food costs and support from community and voluntary organisations working across the city.

Remember - if you are struggling, you are not alone and there is no shame in asking for help. Everyone needs a little bit of extra support at some point in their lives.

The school is now closed for the Summer break until Friday 4th September when we welcome Year 7 and Year 12 students for their induction and Monday 7th September when all other Year Groups join them. You may not receive a response, if a response is required, until the school reopens.

💙 Staff Farewells 💙

This week, we bid farewell to staff who are moving on to pursue other opportunities, with our thanks for the contribution they have made to Plymstock School and its community.

Miss Copson, Miss Melhuish and Miss White move on to embark on exciting careers in teaching. Miss Melhuish will return to Plymstock in September to commence her training. Mrs Cox shared a role with Miss White in the attendance team, and Miss Chambers has supported our reception and admin team. Mrs Platten-Higgins, Mrs Carn, Mrs Head, Miss Farmer and Miss Connor are moving on to new opportunities from our SEND team. A particularly significant departure is that of Mrs Fenwick, who is retiring after over 20 years' service to the school and the community.

From our teaching staff, colleagues beginning other roles both in and out of teaching include Mrs Gilburn from the maths department and Mr Aubert, Mr Luscombe and Mrs Boyle from Team Science.

We send them on their way with our best wishes for their futures. 💙

Plymstock School Fishing 2026 – Another Fantastic Trip! 🎣

Our 2026 fishing trip was a huge success! We were treated to wonderful weather, and the beautiful lakes at Milmead Lakes and Tackle once again provided the perfect setting for an unforgettable few days.

Whether students were casting a line for the very first time or already had plenty of fishing experience, everyone enjoyed the challenge. We caught lots of fish—big and small—and celebrated every catch.

The day was about much more than fishing. Students developed patience, resilience, teamwork and confidence while enjoying the outdoors and learning new skills. There were plenty of smiles, laughter and memorable moments throughout each day.

A huge thank you to everyone at Milmead Lakes and Tackle for another brilliant experience. Special thanks to Mr J for generously sharing his expertise and providing endless fishing tips and tutorials, and to Mrs H for expertly navigating the narrow country lanes and taking such great care of us throughout the trip.

We can't wait to return next year!
