Information sharing - FREE immersive experience upcoming at Market Hall in Devonport - if you're interested in exploring your voice in some very unique ways....some free workshop places and drop-in installation

"I’m sending this email on behalf of ILĀ and Didier, the Co-Founders of London Contemporary Voices choir. We would love to invite you and your members to experience UN/VEIL, a free immersive audiovisual installation at Plymouth Market Hall’s 360° Dome from 8 - 10 October 2026.

Building on our Lumen-Prize nominated installation UN/BOUND (Barbican, 2025), this new experience invites you to step inside an infinite choral soundbath combining human voices, spatial audio and responsive visuals, using quantum computing and ethical AI. Sing, speak, hum or whisper into a microphone and hear your voice woven into the choir’s voice live - or simply listen and enjoy the soundbath experience.

The free programme includes:

Thursday 8 October, 2pm and 6pm: Join lead artist ILĀ and some singers from London Contemporary Voices for a welcoming circle-singing workshop using the collaborative improvisation techniques that shaped the original UN/VEIL sessions. No previous singing experience is needed. Afterwards, preview the installation, try the interactive microphones, meet the artists and discover how voices, spatial sound and emerging technologies come together within the work.

To reserve a free place, please reply to me or email [email protected] with your preferred session (2pm or 6pm)

Friday 9 October: Installation open 10am-5pm – free public drop-in

Saturday 10 October: Installation open 3pm-6pm – free public drop-in

A café serving food, drinks and snacks is available at Market Hall.

It's always so lovely to hear the stories of how the children are setting off on their musical adventures. Wishing all the children at Beechwood Primary Academy much enjoyment in their ukulele lessons! Thankyou for sharing your memories of your first lesson.

Wonderful to hear about where some of Plymouth City Brass young musicians are going to be doing. We wish them all the very best with the next stages of their lives and musical adventuring!

We feel sure that these amazing young people have and will continue to inspire other young musicians too.

Thankyou to all the PCB players, leaders, staff and volunteers for all the hard work that goes in behind the scenes. PYMS is proud to have been able to support some of this wonderful work.

Last night we were sad to say goodbye to three of our players, who are all leaving Plymouth to go to University!

Elliot, Evie and Isaac have been a part of the organisation since they were very small, making their way from the training band, progressing through the academy and joining our Senior Band!

This last period has seen them all play an integral part in our senior band, and we are going to miss them greatly! 😢

They were each presented with a brand new music stand engraved with their names, in the hope that they find the time to keep up the practice!! 😁

Good luck to the three of you, and we look forward to seeing you all again when you’re back in the city! 👋

Congratulations also to Mahala, Jack & Maura - recent Plymouth City Brass Academy Band members (and former members of our Training Band) who are also off to Uni/HE studies in Plymouth and beyond this month! More fantastic young people whose musical talents have contributed to the continuing development of Plymouth City Brass! 😁

Thank you all... best wishes for the future... yes, please keep in touch
