🔢 Number Matching Fun! 🔢

During group time today, the children enjoyed a fun number-matching activity. They were challenged to match the written numerals to the correct number of coloured dots on the other half of the plate.

The children were fantastic! ⭐ They showed lots of concentration and enthusiasm as they searched for the matching pieces, counted the dots and put the numbers back together.

It was lovely to see everyone so engaged and excited about their learning, while developing their number recognition, counting, matching and problem-solving skills through play.

Well done everyone — some brilliant little mathematicians in the making!

⚠️ **Scarlet Fever Notice**

Dear Parents and Carers,

We have been informed of a **confirmed case of scarlet fever** within the setting.

Please be aware of possible signs and symptoms, including a sore throat, high temperature, swollen glands, and a fine, rough-feeling rash that can feel like sandpaper.

If your child develops symptoms, please seek advice from your GP or NHS 111 and let the setting know.

Children diagnosed with scarlet fever should **not attend nursery until at least 24 hours after starting appropriate antibiotic treatment**.

We will continue to follow our usual infection prevention and hygiene procedures within the setting.

I appreciate your support in helping us keep everyone well.

🐑 Making Our Own Sheep! 🐑

Today the children have been getting creative and making their very own sheep!

The children carefully used glue and different materials to create their sheep, adding woolly strips and choosing where to position the eyes and other features. We loved seeing how each creation was completely unique! 🥰

This activity gave the children lots of opportunities to develop their fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination as they picked up, positioned and stuck the different pieces. It also encouraged creativity, concentration and independence, with the children making their own choices about how they wanted their sheep to look.

There were lots of very proud faces when they showed us their finished creations! 🐑✨

🐷🌾 Feeding the animals on the farm! 🐮🐑

Our little farmers have been busy exploring our farm-themed sensory tray! Using spoons and cups, the children enjoyed scooping, filling, pouring and tipping the rice as they carefully prepared food for the hungry farm animals.

There was lots of concentration as they filled their cups, transferred the rice and decided which animal they would feed next. Such a simple activity provided so many lovely opportunities for learning through play.

The animals certainly didn’t go hungry today! 🐷🐮🐑🚜💚

📚🐄 Old MacDonald had a farm… E-I-E-I-O! 🐷🐑

Yesterday during group time, the children enjoyed exploring our interactive touch-and-feel Old MacDonald book. There were lots of different textures to discover as we turned the pages, encouraging the children to use their senses and explore how each one felt.

As we shared the story, we also linked our learning to the communication board, modelling the word “feel”. This gave the children another way to connect what they were experiencing with language and communication.

A lovely group-time activity bringing together stories, sensory exploration, communication and, of course, plenty of farmyard fun! 🐮🐥❤️

🐄🐷 Searching for Animals on the Farm! 🚜🐑

Our little explorers have been busy investigating life on the farm!

The children enjoyed searching through the soil and straw to discover different farm animals, vegetables and hidden treasures. They used their curiosity and imagination as they explored the different textures, moved the animals around the farm and used the vehicles to transport their discoveries.

There was lots of wonderful conversation as the children identified the animals they found, talked about where they might live and shared their ideas with their friends. Through this hands-on experience, the children were developing their language, problem-solving and fine motor skills while learning more about the world around them.

A lovely morning of exploring, investigating and learning through play! 💚

🧼✨ Healthy Hands, Happy Children! ✨🧼

In group time, the children have been talking about the importance of good hand hygiene and learning all about when and why we need to wash our hands.

Together, we discussed some of the important times we should remember to wash our hands, including:

🧼 Before eating or handling food
🚽 After using the toilet
🎨 After messy play and activities
🤧 After sneezing or coughing
👃 After blowing our nose
🌳 After outdoor play or whenever our hands are dirty - and much more

The children enjoyed using our picture cards, joining in with the actions and sharing their own ideas about keeping our hands clean.

We talked about how germs can be very tiny – so tiny that we can't always see them! Washing our hands properly with soap and water helps to wash those germs away and can help stop them from spreading to our friends and others around us.

Activities like this are a lovely way for the children to develop their understanding of health, hygiene and looking after themselves, while building important everyday routines and independence.
