Hi 😀

Since the last update, I have been inspected by Ofsted and received a ‘Good’ inspection judgement. The Inspector was very complimentary about my childcare practices, considering them to be on the verge of outstanding. Please feel free to read my report on the Ofsted website.

Since opening for business, I have been lucky enough to care for five children (from 8 months to four years old). It has been a privileged to watch them all develop, learn and grow and to record their achievements in a Learning Journal, which they could keep as a reminder of their time with me and my family. I have also loved getting to know their families too. The children’s parents have been kind enough to write some testimonials for me to share,

‘Our daughters, have been in R&R childminding care since May 2016 and November 2016 during this time I have always been extremely happy with care provided.

I am happy with the range of activities provided and believe that the children have a good selection of stimulating, fun and educational things to do each day. They regularly come home with artwork, baking or stories of the things they have done and I am pleased that Rachel encourages a ‘free flow’ environment in her home. I also like that Rachel encourages the children to spend as much time as possible outdoors and I know the children like this too.

The children attend a good range of groups while in Rachel’s care and I am happy they are getting out the house and mixing with others.

I believe Rachel is helping to stimulate my children’s learning in a fun and gentle way. They are taking trips and carrying out activities themed around the natural world, religious holidays and festivals, all of which they find really interesting. They are also getting help with writing and counting, which I am very pleased about.

My husband and I enjoy our regular parents evenings and appreciate the feedback provided on the children’s development.

Rachel has always been very professional and conscientious. She always informs us of any accidents or incidents that occur and keeps the daily contact book complete.

Finally, Rachel shows a very caring and nurturing nature towards the children. They have built a very special bond with her and talk about her as a friend. They are always happy to go to her house and always in a great mood at the end of their day and the other children. I would have no hesitation in recommending R&R to other families.’

‘Rachel is an exceptional childminder, she has a beautiful balance of being a gentle and nurturing support to the children, but equally is highly organised and knowledgeable with regards to activities that help children learn as they play.
My son has grown as part of her family over the last 2 and half years and has continued to develop skills in line and beyond his age group, I do not feel that the setting lacks anything that a nursery style setting may have as the children are often out with large groups, but also benefit from that precious, more focused care.
I cannot recommend enough thank you Rachel (you don't realise how good you are!) x x x’

The children and I experienced so much together, for example we attended Forest School and toddler groups, went to the Aquarium, the beach, a farm, soft play centres, theatres, play parks and Mount Edgcumbe, as well as travelled by taxi, bus, train and ferry. We had butterfly phonics also visited us weekly too.

I’m very excited about commencing work again in March 2019, when my Maternity Leave ends, and have requalified as a first aider in preparation for this. I’m also registered to take early years childcare funding from the council too.

As a Registered Childminder I will continue to follow the Early Years Foundation Stage and use Gentle Parenting and Thrive techniques to support the children’s emotional and social development. I will also provide healthy food, cook with them, promote outdoor activities and more importantly we will have lots of fun together. People have told me that my home is homely, child friendly and well-resourced and a place where children feel comfortable. I’m now looking forward to making memories and experience more adventures!

If you need a childminder or know of someone requiring childcare, please feel free to contact me via a private message.

Wow it's been a super busy December! 🎄⛄️❄️🎅🏻

We have made lots of Christmas themed crafts including Christmas stamps, Christmas cards, baubles, wreaths, snow men, Father Christmas and we even painted our very own grotto.

We did lots of yummy cooking, which included homemade gingerbread, mince pies and elf cup cakes.

We have partied with our friends at several Christmas parties. We even met Father Christmas twice! 😀

We attended a Christmas 'Rhyme Time' event and met two donkeys.

We have dressed up in lots of festive clothes and our favourite songs are 'jingle bells' and 'when santa got stuck up the chimney'.

Last but not least we made magic reindeer food for Christmas Eve.

R&R would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and here's to a great 2017 with lots more laughter and fun!!

R&R is now closed until January 3rd 2017.

❄️⭐️️💥It's nearly the end of November! We have been super busy.💥⭐️️❄️

We celebrated the 5th of November by making colourful firework pictures and yummy firework short bread.

We made poppy pictures and went on a poppy hunt for Remembrance Day.

We enjoyed going on a Toddle Waddle walk to raise money for Children in Need.

We enjoyed cooking. We made yummy banana bread and flap jacks.

To celebrate Thanksgiving we had a yummy roast. I asked the children what they were thankful for or what they loved - some answers were mummy, daddy, nanny, carrots, chicken and chocolate cake.

Also throughout the month the children have been helping choose toys and essential items for our Christmas shoe box. Operation Christmas child is a charity where the children and I fill a shoe box up with toys and essentials items for underprivileged children in other countries. The children and I are looking forward to tracking the box online and hopefully making a little boy happy for Christmas.

We’ve also started on some Christmas activities - we have decorated Christmas trees with glitter, pom poms, bows and sequins. We also have a Santa grotto the children can colour and paint 🎅🏻

Our favourite song this month is ' jingle Bells' and 'when Santa got stuck up the chimney'.

👻🐷🎃🌰🍁🕸 October is nearly over and we have had so much.🕸🍁🌰🎃🐷👻

Some of the fun things we have done this month are ......

We enjoyed carving a pumpkin and turning it into yummy pumpkin soup. We also made homemade pumpkin biscuits and pumpkin themed pictures.

We had great fun making spooky shadows with our Halloween torches 👻🕸🎃

We have learned about Autumn. We had a sensory tray and basket filled with Autumn objects that we enjoyed exploring. We went on a few nature walks and collected leaves that had fallen from trees. Those leaves we made into a leaf wreath and we also did leaf printing.

We had great fun at Jump playing on the soft play. We love the aquarium and have been a few times to take part in different activities. We've been to the the Rare Breeds Farm before it closes for the winter. The children loved the pigs and goats and even got to hold a Guinea Pigs.

We attended a group all about our teeth. We learned about the dentist and how to look after our teeth. We brushed big teeth and coloured in pictures about teeth. We learned songs about teeth and enjoyed read a book about children who visited a dentist.

We also decorated lanterns for Diwali.

And lots lots more 😀
