Our youngest children enjoying play-based, hands-on experiences. Learning through play supports social skills, language development, early literacy and maths, creativity, and emotional wellbeing and…it’s really fun!!

Science + sunshine = the perfect combination ☀️🔬

Today in Mothecombe Class, we made the most of the early spring sunshine 🌼🌿 and headed outside to explore our school grounds. We searched for things that are alive 🐞, once were alive 🍂 and have never been alive 🪨 — thinking carefully like real scientists!

To finish, we created our own mini beast habitats 🐛🏡 so we could observe some tiny creatures up close. So much curiosity, teamwork and brilliant scientific thinking! 🌍✨

What a magical day of stories and illustration! 📚✨

Today we were so lucky to welcome author and illustrator Simon James to our school! He shared some of his wonderful stories with us, including The Day Jake Vacuumed and Baby Brains, keeping us all completely captivated 😄📖

We were amazed as we watched him bring Sally and the Limpet to life, drawing right before our eyes 🎨✏️ The children absolutely adored seeing the characters appear step by step — true illustration magic! 🌊🐚

To make the day even more special, Simon was kind enough to cut the ribbon and officially declare our book nook open! 🎀📚✂️ A perfect ending to an inspiring day that has sparked so much excitement for reading and storytelling. 💛✨

Wow! What a spectacular week of performances from Bigbury Class! You brought your characters to life with such confidence and had us all completely captivated. There was drama, tension, and… murder (on the dance floor)!! We couldn’t be prouder. A huge well done to everyone involved!
