β οΈ UPDATED 16:38: The Saltash Tunnel has now reopened, please expect delays in both directions for a short period.
A serious road traffic collision has taken place in the Saltash tunnel. Emergency services are currently on scene.
The Saltash Tunnel is closed in both directions and we do not currently have an estimated time for when the closure will be lifted.
All traffic travelling from Cornwall towards Plymouth is being directed via Saltash on to the Tamar Bridge North Cantilever.
β οΈ Please avoid the area and plan an alternative route if possible. If your journey is essential, please allow significant additional time and expect delays. We will provide further updates via our website as soon as we have more information: tamarcrossings.org.uk
Please follow the directions of emergency services and our operational teams, and take care when approaching the toll plaza.
With consideration for those involved, we kindly ask that no comments speculating on the cause of the collision are made.

π³ Torpoint Ferry Service Information
The Torpoint Ferry will be operating a two-ferry service for the remainder of this week, this means a departure from each side of the river approximately every 15 minutes.
The service will be increased to three ferries over the weekend to support increased traffic flow, before moving back to two ferries again at the start of next week.
This is a temporary service arrangement to ensure we can continue to operate the ferry safely and in line with our operating requirements.
Weβll keep our travel updates page updated with the latest information, which can help you plan your journey: tamarcrossings.org.uk
(please note we are not available to answer questions on Facebook outside of business hours)

π» Important update for customers applying for a new TamarTag
We are currently experiencing an unusually high demand for new TamarTags at the same time as our tag manufacturer is experiencing delays sourcing one of the electronic components used to produce them. As a result, supplies of new tags are currently limited.
To help us manage the remaining stock as fairly as possible while we wait for new deliveries, from Thursday 6 August we will temporarily stop accepting online TamarTag application forms. You can still apply via email, post and in person.
Processing applications this way allows us to register applications in the order they are received and allocate tags fairly as new stock becomes available.
We are expecting our next delivery of new tags towards the end of September. However, due to current demand, customers applying now may experience a wait of up to four weeks from submitting an application to receiving a tag.
For more information and details on how to apply, visit our website: www.tamarcrossings.org.uk/temporary-change-to-tamar-tag-application-process/
π» Existing TamarTag customers
If you already have a TamarTag and it develops a fault or needs replacing, please contact our Customer Services team by email or by calling 01752 361577.
Please continue using your existing tag while you wait for a replacement. Your account will continue to receive the TamarTag discounted toll rate while your replacement is being processed.

Elephant escape on the Torpoint Ferry π
On this day in 1923, Julia the elephant jumped off the Torpoint Ferry and swam across the Tamar!
While being transported by the Bostock and Wombwell circus on their return to Devon for their next show, Julia decided she fancied a swim - so she broke free from her handler and jumped overboard. Despite a few moments of panic for the circus team (and the ferry crew!) she made it to Devonport safe and sound.
Whatever your journey across the Tamar looks like today, we can (mostly) promise fewer escaped elephants.

π³οΈ Ferry Service Update β Monday 13th July (Evening) & Tuesday 14th July (Morning) π³οΈ
We will be operating a two-ferry service this evening and tomorrow morning while Tamar II undergoes inspection and repairs following an onboard generator fault.
Once the necessary work has been completed, the vessel will continue to be closely monitored to ensure it is operating safely and reliably. Subject to the successful completion of these checks and no further issues being identified, we hope to return to a full three-ferry service during Tuesday afternoon.
We appreciate your patience and understanding while these essential safety inspections and repairs are carried out.
Please note that our page is not monitored outside normal business hours.
