Now we can move onto the next phase of our work - optimising and improving the effect for greater thrust and look at potential laboratory spacecraft build and eventual Low Earth Orbit technology demonstration!

A fantastic day in the laboratory yesterday, exploring a spacecraft engine concept that DOESN'T require fuel! We got two great readings, one which is a reversal (showing the direction of thrust can be controlled).

“Another fun day in the lab w/ . X38 was a beauty. As we ramped up the voltage (x axis), on breakdown (1kV) it thrust up. predictions are shown for plate spacings of 7-14micron. The krapton was 7 but there'll be air gaps..? Reverse failed due to burnout..? Plot:”

“A great day in the lab w/ . We did 2 tests w/ a better balance. See the abrupt upwards tick at 2.5 kV (purple) & 3.0 kV (red) due to power off. Equal to the loss of a upwards force: dm=0.03gram. What is it? The prediction is close. Also see oddities at ~1.2kV:”

“A day mostly in the lab w/ . Six capacitor tests. No positives today but at least we know electrostatics are not a problem, so the 3 positive thrusts out of 22 so far were 'something else'. ie: 14% of our tests have shown thrust. Next tests on Wednesday ”

“Fascinating results today from in the lab. The plot shows the thrusts observed in tests X2/X4 (blue/grey) & today X13 (orange) - up to 0.39g! (Voltage can be read as kV). predicts 0.06g from the current seen (~0.1microA) but our current data is uncertain..”
