ππ©βπ³ Mandi from Syria π©βπ³π
Last weekβs recipe book cooking session with Fotonow (CIC) and Zebra Collective Collective at the Mount Wise Neighbourhood Centre (MWNC) was another delicious success.
We learnt how to make a popular Arab dish called Mandi, which is a traditional meat and rice dish usually cooked in a fire pit. We substituted the fire pit by using charcoal placed into the rice at the end of cooking for a smoky barbecue smell and taste. π₯
Our Head Chef Rouba also prepared a refreshing yoghurt drink, which was the Syrian equivalent of the popular Turkish drink Ayran made from her own homemade yogurt starter. π₯
We missed many of our group due to illness and the bad weather, but were delighted to welcome Sazgar our new creche worker!
π Thank you to Rouba for sharing such a fantastic recipe, and we all look forward to our next session. π
Odils Learning Foundation would like to thank The Rank Foundation and Southwest for the funding to enable these sessions to happen.

The rain was gentle, as was their pace, and everyone enjoyed the peace of the natural environment. πΏβ¨

ππ Rockpooling at Mount Batten Beach ππ
During the half term holidays PRSS clients and their families attended a fantastic Rockpooling session hosted by the lovely Freya from Ocean Conservation Trust π¦
Everybody had a great time learning how to safely identify and handle sea creatures and enjoyed a good bit of competition! π
We then met the fantastic Jess Hirons who gave us a tour of the Mount Batten tower where everyone enjoyed stunning views of Plymouth Sound and learnt some fascinating facts about Plymouth history. π°π
We then enjoyed a picnic before returning back to the Barbican on the Mount Batten Ferry. π€π§Ί
