Throwback to this time last week, where we had a fantastic time at the LifeIn AI event in Market Hall.

The event was packed with talks, workshops, live demos, robotics, and lots of other opportunities to get to grips with the world of AI, and we were delighted to bring some unique experiences designed by the College to the proceedings.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by to chat to us about what we offer at City College Plymouth, and everyone who participated in our ‘Stock Market Attack Simulation Area’ and ‘Master the Grid: Cyber Security’ experiences.

As a Core Partner for the second year running, along with fellow partners Babcock International Group, the University of Plymouth and TECHOSAURUS®, we were blown away by the level of innovation, creative thinking and sheer ingenuity on display - much of which is evidenced in our video!

We're already looking forward to next year's event!

We understand the next steps after Year 11 can be challenging, but we’re here to make those decisions much simpler!

It’s their world - help them build it with City College Plymouth. You can see our range of subjects and sign up for the Taster Sessions here: https://cityplym.info/tasters2026

As part of National Manufacturing Day, last week our T Level Engineering students headed to Tamar Bridge to get a closer look at the engineering behind one of Plymouth’s most recognisable landmarks.

During the visit, students explored the history of the bridge and why it was built, including its impact on the local economy then and now. They also learned about how a suspension bridge works, and were able to explore the methodology behind its expansion joints and the numerous engineering principles that keep it standing proud over the river!

Our students also had the opportunity to venture onto the gantry beneath the main road, allowing them to enjoy extensive views of the Tamar, before heading into the anchorage chamber to see where the bridge is secured.

It was a great opportunity for our students to get out of the classroom and see large scale engineering in action.

Many thanks to everyone involved in the visit, and special thanks to Jane Cooper, Bridging the Tamar, and Tamar Crossings!
