Security Management South West Limited is proud to announce that it has been awarded a major contract by Plymouth City Council to deliver comprehensive security services across the city.

The contract represents a significant partnership aimed at enhancing safety and public confidence in council-managed spaces and events.

Under the new agreement, SMSW will provide highly trained and professional security personnel to support the day-to-day operations of council facilities, as well as ensure the secure delivery of civic events, public gatherings and elections.

This contract award not only reinforces our strong presence in the region but also brings tangible value to the Plymouth economy. It helps protect existing jobs in the city and ensures continued employment for experienced personnel, while also creating potential for future local recruitment and skills development.

“We are thrilled to have been selected as Plymouth City Council’s trusted security partner,” said Ken York, Managing Director. “Our teams are committed to delivering excellence in both community safety and customer service. Being a local business, we take pride in reinvesting in the city and supporting local livelihoods.”

Councillor Chris Penberthy, the Council’s Cabinet Member for Housing, Cooperative Development and Communities, said: “These essential security services are in place to ensure both staff and public safety, as well as protect our property and local democratic processes . I’m really pleased that Security Management South West, a Plymouth-based company, was successful in winning this important contract.”

The contract award follows a rigorous competitive tender process and highlights SMSW’s continued growth as a leading provider of innovative and reliable security solutions across the South West.

About the Approved Contractor Scheme (ACS)
The SIA Approved Contractor Scheme (ACS) ensures that a business is fit and proper (which includes criminality checks) and has been assessed as meeting the specified quality standards.

Businesses may apply on a voluntary basis to become approved contractors and be
assessed against a range of criteria. If successful, we approve the security business and the business may then market itself as being part of the ACS.

Approval to the ACS provides purchasers of private security services with independent proof of a contractor’s commitment to quality.
