What a great day! Despite the unpredictable weather trying to dampen the mood, our incoming Year 7s had a wonderful introduction to life at Plymouth College. It was the perfect opportunity for everyone to settle in, explore, and bond.

We are incredibly proud of how quickly everyone settled in, made new friends, and embraced our school spirit.

If our Move Up Day was anything to go by, this year group is going to achieve amazing things. We can't wait to officially welcome you all in September! πŸŽ’

What an incredible evening at our annual Red vs Black Inter Club Swim Competition πŸ”΄βš«οΈ

Pupils from across our swimming pathway took to the blocks for a full programme of races.

A real highlight was a special head to head between Matthew H Ireland international swimmer and having recently achieved a European Qualifying time vs Aleksi another one of our swimmers on their European Qualifying journey. πŸŒπŸ’¦

A fantastic display of high performance talent and importantly inspiration for our younger swimmers in our pathway.

Well done to every athlete who competed across the heats, it was a wonderful evening and was great to see our Swimming Club come together. πŸ‘πŸ”₯

It’s been a fantastic few weeks for Plymouth College Athletics, with pupils from Year 7 - 12 competing across multiple major events. πŸƒβ€β™€ πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ

At the Plymouth & West Devon Schools Trials, 22 pupils took part many earning personal bests and 10 have now been selected for the Devon Championships in Exeter this weekend, including Molly J , Freya N, Brendan S and Willow K‑M. A brilliant achievement and we wish them every success as they push for Devon team selection.

Momentum continued at the Plymouth Schools Year 9 & 10 Championships, where:
✨ Girls won the team event
✨ Boys placed 2nd
✨ Plymouth College won overall

A huge well done to every pupil especially those who stepped into extra events to support the team. πŸ†

A huge thank you to our incredible PFA for their generous donation of a new fire pit, popcorn maker, flint and steel, and safety equipment, what a gift to our Forest School community 🌲πŸ”₯

Today our prep pupils learnt how to stay safe around a fire pit and explored what a fire can tell us about the natural environment. After practising their new skills, they gathered together to toast marshmallows and enjoy the simple joy of being outdoors as a team πŸ’šβœ¨

We’re so grateful for the opportunities our PFA helps us create for our pupils.

πŸš£β€β™‚οΈ River Wye Kayak Expedition 🌿

Our Outdoor Education pupils have just completed an incredible self planned kayak expedition on the River Wye organising everything from food and kit to transport and route choices.

They put their growing skills to the test on the lively waters at Symonds Yat, before camping overnight as a team.

A brilliant showcase of independence and resilience. Well done, everyone! πŸ’ͺ✨

β˜€οΈπŸŒΏ As summer arrives, our pupils are spending more time discovering the wild, wonderful classroom just beyond our gates…

Long, bright days mean more chances to climb, paddle, scramble and explore. Our Outdoor Education team make the most of every moment.

Gyll Scrambling along the coast to kayaking on calm summer waters, pupils build confidence and courage in the most unforgettable ways.
Add in cycling adventures, climbing, bouldering and the challenge of DofE and Ten Tors training, and you’ve got a programme that quietly shapes leaders, problem solvers and teammates.

πŸ’š We can't wait to see what adventures our Outdoor Education team get up to this summer term. We are certain they will create memories that last long after the summer fades. 🌞

🌟 Celebrating Our Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Achievements! 🌟

The Duke of Edinburgh's Award is open to all young people aged 14 to 25, and is available in three levels; Bronze, Silver and Gold. Each level takes an increasing length of time to complete and, to recognise their commitment, participants who achieve their Gold DofE are invited to attend Buckingham Palace to celebrate this impressive achievement. πŸ‘‘

This year is also the 70th anniversary of the award, and to mark the occasion a member of DofE staff from each establishment was also invited. Mr Rees was delighted to attend and support Anna A as she visited the Palace, and was even more pleased to visit the tea tent. πŸ˜ƒ

This is a fitting tribute to the effort the young people put in, but it would not be possible without the dedication that adults put into supporting pupils to complete their award; be it parents who encourage, assessors who confirm a young person has been practicing and volunteering, or staff who take pupils to far flung places for their expeditions. πŸ’šπŸŒ
