~Our Egg Hatching Process~ 🥚🐣
Observing chick eggs hatch has been an absolutely enchanting and unforgettable experience for the children. Right from the moment the eggs arrived, the room was buzzing with curiosity and excitement as the children began their fascinating journey into understanding the life cycle of a chick.
We began by gently placing the eggs into an incubator, explaining how it keeps them warm and safe—much like a mother hen would. Each day, the children took turns observing the eggs, learning about the importance of patience and gentle care. We discussed what might be happening inside the eggs.
As the days went by, anticipation built up. And then came the most thrilling moment—tiny cracks started to appear! The children watched in awe as the chicks slowly chipped their way out of the shells, a process known as hatching. We talked about how this can take time and why it’s crucial to let the chicks do it themselves.
Seeing the chicks emerge, wet and tired, before fluffing up into soft bundles, was a wonderful opportunity to discuss growth and change. The children showed remarkable care and empathy, learning how to keep the chicks warm, quiet, and safe as they rested.
This experience supported many areas of learning—from understanding the natural world and life cycles to developing language, patience, and a sense of responsibility. Most importantly, it created a sense of wonder that the children will treasure for a long time.
