Workshop 1: Physical Geo-modelling of Rock Avalanche-River Interactions and associated hazards ~ Prof. Anne Mather π¨ποΈ
Understanding how landscapes respond to extreme events is key to predicting hazards. Using the 2016 KaikΕura earthquake (Mw 7.8), which triggered around 30,000 landslides and a landslide-dammed lake, this workshop explores how and why these failures occur.
Get hands-on with the EM2 Stream Table to simulate landslide dams, investigate failure mechanisms, and explore downstream impacts through interactive experiments and problem-solving.
