They've done it again. π‘π The UK government has allowed the 'emergency' use of one of the world's most damaging pesticides, a neonicotinoid which was banned in 2018. https://buff.ly/3XUNeEg
π This decision has been made a third year in a row, going against the explicit advice of governmentβs own Expert Committee on Pesticides, with potentially devastating consequences for bees and other wildlife.
π Just a few weeks ago, the UK government agreed to an international target to reduce environmental impact of pesticides at . This 'emergency' authorisation is another example of the government failing to follow their warm words with meaningful action.
The use of this chemical is not a long-term solution. β° For the sake of our wildlife, human health and the environment, farmers need support to transition away from harmful pesticides.
