Hello new term

25/04/2026

Hi all I just want you to know that sleeping safer at my setting is high priority and want you all to know what I have in place…..After the heartbreaking news in the media in recent week’s regarding little Noah, and the updated DfE guidance this week # # #, safer sleep is more important than ever.

I have always prioritised safe sleep. I have never used pushchairs as a main sleep space. All children in my care have always had appropriate arrangements, including travel cots with mattresses and roll-out beds and I’ve always been in the room with the children sleeping or if in a cot I’ve checked on the children regularly.

Going forward, in line with the new guidance, children will not be able to have blankets or large comfort items from home during sleep times. I understand this may be a change for some families, but these steps are in place to ensure every child’s safety.

Children sleep in the same room as me, at the same time. If a child ever sleeps separately ie in a cot they are placed on their back to sleep and are monitored at all times and physically checked regularly.

If a child falls asleep naturally in a pushchair while we are out, their need for rest will always be respected. However, their main sleep environment will always be a safe, appropriate sleep space within the setting.

Thank you for your continued support as we work together to keep every child safe.
