A big thank you to Book Relief for their generous donation, which has allowed us to purchase more phonics books for our children.

These new books will help us continue to provide children with engaging, carefully matched reading opportunities and support them in developing their confidence and fluency.

We have talked about what makes us feel happy, sad, angry, calm, loved and afraid, before drawing and sharing our own experiences.

Meet Helen – our fabulous Parent Support Advisor!

We’re incredibly lucky to have Helen as part of our school community.

Helen’s role is all about supporting our families. Whether you need someone to listen, practical advice, signposting to services, or help finding positive routes and ways forward, Helen is always here with a supportive ear (and often a cup of tea! ☕).

Helen also leads our Military Support Welfare, creating fantastic opportunities and support for our school’s military families. From our St Luke’s Lighthouse Trail, where our pupils created a fabulous lighthouse which is now proudly displayed at the Box, to Christmas and Easter events, summer rowing events and Christmas theatre trips – Helen really does do it all!

Helen is available Monday–Thursday and is always happy to chat, support and help our families access the support they need.

At Pomphlett, we use Essential Letters and Sounds (ELS) to support our children in developing the key skills they need to become confident, fluent readers.

ELS is a systematic phonics programme that teaches children how to recognise and use sounds in words, helping them to develop their reading and spelling skills. Through regular, engaging phonics sessions, children learn to hear sounds, link them to letters, and blend them together to read words.

Year 1 have been excited to explore their newly renovated outdoor area. Over the summer, new decking was added and the space was beautifully landscaped, creating an inviting environment for learning and play. The children have thoroughly enjoyed using the area during their continuous provision time, where it has provided exciting opportunities for exploration, creativity, and hands-on learning.
