🎉 Congratulations to our 124 Half Marathon Finishers! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️🏅

What an incredible achievement! This academic year, 124 children took on the challenge of completing the Mary Dean's Half Marathon, and we couldn't be prouder of every single one of them.

The children's training began during Sports Week in the summer term, where they started by running one mile a day. From there, they continued to build their distance by completing laps around the school during their lunch breaks throughout the term. Their hard work, determination and perseverance all led to Friday's fantastic finale, where they completed their final mile after school, crossing the finish line to complete the equivalent of a half marathon.

A huge thank you goes to all of our parents and carers for their encouragement, enthusiasm and support throughout the challenge and for helping to make the final event such a success.

We would also like to say a heartfelt thank you to Mrs Butchers, Mrs Moore, Mrs Baker and Mrs Lake for supervising the children's lunchtime laps throughout their training. Thank you also to Mrs Baker, Mrs Barnes-Smith and Miss Garside for supporting the children at Friday's final event.

A special thank you also goes to the children who helped set out the cones for the route and prepare the tables with the goodie bags and medals. Your willingness to help was greatly appreciated.

The final mile was a wonderful celebration of resilience, teamwork and community spirit. The atmosphere was fantastic, with families, friends and staff all coming together to cheer the children on. It was a truly special community event and a brilliant way to celebrate everyone's hard work.

Well done to all 124 children on completing a half marathon. You have shown determination, commitment and resilience, and you should all be incredibly proud of what you have achieved. We certainly are! 👏🎉💙

Mary Dean’s Field Gun team competed in the Field Gun competition at Armed Forces Day on Saturday. Even with last minute changes, they won two of their races and only lost the 3rd on a penalty. The team showed great teamwork and tenacity, never giving up, their sportsmanship to the other teams was a credit to them.
Thanks to the PTFA for funding this, without their work we would not be able to run this. Thanks to the trainers, staff and volunteers for giving up their time to make this happen.
We have 12 of our team who will continue next year… I think that will be the year where Mary Dean’s will be the ones to watch in this competition.

Children from military families took part in a rowing event on the Hoe today 🤩

They competed in a one-minute timed row, a two-minute timed row, and worked together as a team to row as far as they could in six minutes.

Every child represented the school brilliantly, showing incredible determination, teamwork, and enthusiasm throughout the event. We were especially proud to hear one of the event organisers comment on how polite and respectful the children from Mary Dean’s are.

A huge thank you to Kate, Hannah, Jonathan, Zoe and Gail for helping with transport and for their support throughout the event. Your help made the day possible and was greatly appreciated.

Well done, everyone! We are so proud of you all. 👏🚣‍♀️🚣‍♂️

Mary Dean’s dance team delivered an incredible performance at today’s festival at Notre Dame 🤩 Their behaviour was impeccable, and they did the school — and Mrs Baker — extremely proud.

With our largest team yet of 30 children, ranging from Year 1 to Year 6, they truly filled the stage with talent. Special shout-outs to Annabelle and Caycie-Jo for their fantastic duet, and to McKenna and Kizzy for their brilliant solos.

A special thank you to Annabelle for designing the team tops, and to her aunt for printing them — they looked fantastic.

A heartfelt thank you to Mrs Bray for her support of Mrs Baker and the children throughout the entire day.

The girls’ football team had a fantastic afternoon in the sunshine. They looked brilliant in their pink kits at Marjons and showed real determination and team spirit throughout. Between games, they even found time to practise karate and dance routines! Well done, girls! ⭐️
