Hello everyone!
On Saturday 11th of February we will be walking to Plymbridge Woods for a nice, chill day out all together.

Other societies will be joining us and it will be a great opportunity for us to socialise while also being surrounded by nature!

Please bring food, water, appropriate clothing and money for the bus.

Itinerary:

10:00 - Meet up SU Roof

10:31 - Bus 200 from Jurys Inn

11:00 - Arrival in Plymbridge woods, walk and lunch

15:30 - Bus 200 from Coypool P&R

15:45 - Arrival at University

Hello everyone! 🌱

We are doing a social next Friday at Twist, the board game cafe.

It is 5£ entry and we will be paying individually on the day but please let us know within the 1st of December if you are coming so that we can book the tables!!

This will be a nice opportunity to get to know each other more and play some games.

Food and drinks are available at the cafe.🍻🍕🧩

Hi everyone!
We will be going to the Climate Community Centre, 67 New George St, to join a climate change workshop. It is an interactive and engaging experience with volunteers at the centre, teaching us about the impacts of climate change.

13:45 - Meet up SU Roof

14:00 - Start Workshop At CCC

17:00 - End Workshop

This event is free but please purchase a ticket so it will give us an idea of numbers.

Hello everyone!
Unfortunately we had to cancel the foraging walk due to low attendance.

We are wondering why this may be so please if you would like to see some specific activity or you would like us to do activities at a different time/day, don’t hesitate to drop us a message and let us know!

The next activity will be at Tulgey Woods Wednesday 16th of Nov.
We will be helping the volunteers in Leycesteria formosa removal!

Itinerary:
12:30 - Meet Up on SU Roof and walk to Tulgey Woods (20/30 min walk)
13:00 - Start volunteering
15:00 - End Volunteering and walk back to campus.

Please bring some sturdy clothes as this will be a physical activity!
Equipment will be provided.

On the 9th of November Tess Wilmot, an edible landscape specialist, is taking us around Central Park to identify edible plants.

We will meet at 1:30pm on the SU Roof and the walk will start at 2pm in Central Park until 4pm.

Max. 20 people

This event is ticketed and the money will go to Tess Wilmot, in order to participate you must purchase a ticket on our UPSU page!🌱

George Holmes, lead ranger, will be giving us a guided walk in the Cotehele wetland.

Itinerary:

11:00 - Meet Up at Plymouth Station

11:10 - Train to Calstock

11:43 - Arrival in Calstock - walk to Cotehele

12:15 - Start Talk

14:45 - End talk and walk back to station

15:20 - Train to Plymouth

15:53 - Arrival Plymouth

The ticket to the train costs 6.70£ return or around 4£ if you have a student railcard. Please bring adequate clothing as you will be walking in wet areas and any food/water you may need.

Tickets available on our UPSU website so that we have an idea of numbers :)

IMPORTANT INFO FOR TOMORROW FOR PEOPLE GOING SEED COLLECTING!!!

Please note that we are meeting at 9am instead of 9:30am on the SU roof. You will be walking to the railway station as the minibus leaves from there at 9:30am.

Please note that you can no longer get tickets as we have already booked the minibus!

We will be joining Moor Trees in one of their activities to restore our native woodland in Dartmoor and South Devon.

9:45 - Departure with minibus to Blackadon Nature Reserve

11:00 - Start woodland walk to collect seeds

17:00/18:00 - Return back to University

Please note that the minibus is provided to us by Moor Trees, which means places are limited. To participate you have to purchase tickets, you have time until the 21st as we need to know how many members are going.
If you have purchased a ticket please send us your emergency contact details!

We are holding a Biodiversity Workshop next Tuesday!

This is run by Ash Goddard, a volunteer from the Climate Centre.
It combines fun and learning and will teach us about the importance of biodiversity and what we can do to halt biodiversity erosion.

Tickets are free but limited to 14 people as we need a large space for the workshop, so please purchase the tickets on our UPSU website.

If tickets run out and you’d like to participate please let us know and we’ll try and hold a second one!

Join us at the Sunday SU Quiz on the 9th of October!📝🍻

It starts at 8pm and the entry fee is 2£, 1£ will go to our charity, Moor Trees, and 1£ will go into the prize pot.

Questions will be on nature but also general knowledge, film, music etc.

It will be a fun one!

Moor Trees is a charity dedicated to restoring native woodland in Dartmoor and South Devon. We will be joining them for some activities such as seed collecting and nursery maintenance.

Meet us at 6pm in Rolle 114 to learn more about them and how we can help restore our woodland! 🌲🌳🤎
