Our Brand New Co Curriculum programme kicked off yesterday!
58 acitivites on and off site, including Candle Making, Bee Keeping, Volleyball, Surfing, Golf, Forest School, Technical Theatre Group, Gardening and Street Band!

We'll bring you lots more photos over the coming weeks, but for now, here is a flavour of what Week B, Block 5 looks like across the College!

Co-Curriculum emails have been sent to Years 8, 9 and 10 this week!

Our Co-Curriculum programme starts next Wednesday, 30 September, Week B, Block 5 and is designed to foster the ‘whole person’ through our three core pillars: Character, Confidence and Contribution.

European Day of Languages 2026!

This year's theme celebrates the power of languages to bring people together, build understanding and strengthen connections across cultures and communities.

There are lots of activities happening here at Ivybridge Community College including:

🇫🇷🇪🇸French and Spanish karaoke (B2.05 and C3.01) on Friday, 25 September, Break 2.

👕Design a t-shirt to celebrate how languages bring people together. The winner will get their design printed on a t-shirt!

📖Create a text (e.g. a poem, letter or poster) including a meaningful message in a language you are learning.
Students can find out more in the Learning Resource Centre (LRC) now! The deadline for these activities is Friday, 2 October!

Or maybe you would like to come and learn a new language at a taster session led by staff and students!

Conquering the Lake District for Gold DofE Award

A number of our intrepid Year 12 and 13 students have successfully taken on the ultimate challenge, completing their final Qualifying Expedition for the Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award in the stunning Lake District National Park during the summer break.

A Gruelling Four-Day Challenge
Having already proved their mettle during a rigorous Training and Practice Expedition on Dartmoor earlier in the summer, this inspiring group of young people travelled north to face their final assessment.
The culminating challenge required them to independently navigate their way through mountainous and unfamiliar terrain over the course of a demanding four-day, three-night expedition.
Carrying all their necessary equipment and camping overnight, the students relied heavily on their navigation skills and, most importantly, their ability to work together as a cohesive team to keep morale high and keep everyone moving forward.

The Road to Gold
The expedition marks the final hurdle for these students, who are now coming to the end of their comprehensive Gold Award journey. To reach this prestigious milestone, they have also dedicated significant time and effort to completing several other demanding sections:
Volunteering their time to help the local community
Undertaking and improving in a Physical activity
Developing and dedicating time to a specific Skill
Completing a shared Residential experience away from home

Royal Recognition Awaits!
With the hard work and long treks now behind them, these amazing individuals can look forward to a well-deserved celebration. In the near future, they will be invited to attend their official Gold Award Ceremony, which will be held at either Buckingham Palace or St. James's Palace in London.

Well done to each and every one of these outstanding students on a truly remarkable achievement!

Huge congratulations to our Year 10 Netball Squad for officially launching the sporting year at their tournament against Plymouth High School for Girls, Stoke Damerel Community College and Devonport High School for Girls!

The team left everything on the court, securing a fantastic win and battling hard through two tough matches.
We are so proud of your effort, teamwork and resilience!

Good luck to our Year 9 Netball Squad as they head to Bournemouth for their big National Cup fixture!
