Edgcumbe Class enjoyed a game of higher or lower in maths last week! 🔢

Working in pairs, the children laid out eight cards and guessed whether the next card they turned over would be higher or lower. What a fun way to practise comparing and ordering numbers!

Last week, Mrs Lafi visited Plymbridge class to talk about her life as a Muslim and explain why the Five Pillars of Islam are so important to her.

Youssef confidently showed the class how he uses his prayer mat and recited a passage from the Qur’an. Mrs Lafi explained its meaning, and the children enjoyed trying to recite parts of it too.

The children were delighted when Mrs Lafi gave each of them their name written in Arabic. They had a go at copying the writing from right to left!

Reception have been busy strengthening their fine motor skills with lots of Dough Disco! 🎶 We’ve brought maths into the fun too, making numbers and rolling different amounts of dough balls.

Outside, the children have been exploring, developing new skills and putting their learning into practice through play. What a busy week so far! 🌿

We recapped the bass, tone and slap sounds on the djembes before playing ‘Follow the Leader’. Working with a partner, the children took turns to create and copy rhythms using each of these sounds.

Year 5 continued to develop their hockey skills today! 🏑

Building on last week’s passing and receiving, the children practised moving into attacking spaces, controlling the ball and shooting accurately using a push shot. They then applied their skills brilliantly in some competitive small-sided games.

Fantastic teamwork and control from everyone! 🌟
