Ross Farr-Semmens Brass and Piano Tuition

Over the moon with my recent student successes in their grade exams last week... congratulations to Elizabeth and Evie for their piano grades 2 and Initial and to Alexander for his Merit mark grade 1 baritone. Onwards and upwards.... well done you three!!

"Carols Around the Park" was a huge success on Wed night... several of my pupils and musical friends provided our annual carols around Thorn Park, braving the soggy weather and spreading some Christmas spirit whilst raising money for the Shekinah Mission. Locals gave generously and we raised £400 in total. Many thanks to the players, and their supporters, and to Ian, Tracey, Mark, and Dean from the City of Plymouth Concert band who gave valued support... Gloria, Naomi, and Holly were fabulous with the collecting around the houses and the carollers following us around sang very well indeed. Helen's laminating plan worked out well and now we can re-use our music next year 😀. Well done everyone, and a very Merry Christmas!!🎄🎅🎺🎵🎊🎶🎺🎺

It was great to have a look around Shekinah this morning and get an idea of their work and where/how our 'Carols Around the Park' donations are used... £400 donated!!!... Thank you to all the residents around Thorn Park who donated so generously and to my pupils and musical friends who helped make it all happen.

Last night, the pupils of Ross Farr-Semmens Brass and Piano Tuition performed beautifully, bringing festive cheer to the community. Thanks to the wonderful organisation by Ross and Gloria, the event raised a generous £400 cash donation to support people accessing our services.

I feel lucky to be the first person to play test the one and only Robinson (prototype) soprano cornet... Thank you Robinson Brass for entrusting me with it this week and to Knighton Town Band for allowing me to try it with them... resident sop player, Phil, and myself had good fun checking it out and I will be reporting back lots of favourable things - look out sop world! The top level, hand-made, soprano cornet brands will soon be joined by one other... it's brilliant to be a small part of the exciting process of instrument development.

We are proud to share that Theo was recently awarded the Ross Farr-Semmens Keyboard Performance Award at the Saltash Music Festival for the second year running! 🏆

Congratulations to my pianists who played at the Saltash Music Festival yesterday.... there was a success story from each and everyone of them ranging from trophies to piece preparation and simply managing to stand up in front of an audience and play beautiful music.

We made it through the "Carols Around the Park" last night, playing against strong winds and rain... well done to all my pupils who performed and raised £205 for the Shekinah Mission. Further well done's and thanks to my musical friends who helped with the playing and to the hardy local singers and pupils/families who also made it along to carol and be part of the Christmas spirit...
