Another busy day for team Ryedale learning from Neil Adams MBE | Technical & Tactical Judo Expert | Commentator Niki (Jenkins) Adams OLY , thank you to York RI Judo Club for the opportunity to train with legends coaching.

What a good summer turn out our seniors have had tonight!!! Always a good sign at end of session when everyone and their gis are sweaty!!! Also good to have our Hak back from his adventure in Japan. As well as having our Miss Mae back for tonight’s session whilst she’s back from base briefly.

Neil Adam’s masterclass at York R.i. This Saturday

RAF Judo Championships 2026 🥋🇬🇧 RAF Judoka produced an excellent display at the 2026 RAF Judo Championships at RAF Cosford, reflecting a year of hard work and competition at all levels. Standout performances came from Flt Lt Tom Freeborn and Cpl Stuart Murdoch, with the event also serving as selection for the UKAF squad, where the RAF is expected to be strongly represented. Gold medallists were Flt Lt Chris Featherstone (U81kg), AS1 Ben Van Denton (U90kg), and Cpl Alex Dickson (U100kg). Congratulations also to all medal winners and the Kyu grade competitors, who showed great determination against higher-graded opponents. RAF Judo now looks ahead to the 2026 Inter Services Championships, with two training camps remaining before the competition.

On Saturday 27th June at the NYJDF Mike Leng 6th Dan was presented with an award on the centenary of York.R.I. surrounded people who have known him for years and also his ever faithful Ryedale Judo Club team!!
Mike has been involved in the Yorkshire & Humberside area since the very late 60’s!
In his time he’s has been a National B referee,
Senior examiner and director of examiners for the area recommending many players for their Dan grade, as well as Chair of Yorkshire & Humberside.
But alongside his area jobs he has and still does play an imperative part in the Running of Ryedale Judo Club which he is one of the original founders and previous Chair! His no nonsense approach to Judo remains to this day!! Judo etiquette is a must!! And the saying that has become a Ryedale Judo Club mantra “Hands first legs last “ always echoes during session! As a club we’re super proud of him! And that proudness and thanks stretches to so many more Judoka that he could ever imagine!!
