We are looking forward to welcoming families to our Open Afternoon on Tuesday 22nd September 3.30-4.45pm. We look forward to seeing our current families as well as families who are looking to see whether our nurturing, highly ambitious and inclusive school is right for your child and family! It is a great opportunity to have a look around some of our classrooms, to explore our amazing outdoor spaces and to meet and talk to members of our fabulous staff team.

We are so proud of the children's performances this week for our summer concert! We hope that families enjoyed it as much as the children enjoyed performing their showcase of songs and chants from their music lessons, this year's Sing Up Day song, nursery rhymes and favourite assembly songs! Children in Reception enjoyed celebrating their final performance with a chilly treat after the show.

In January, we launched our work with MyHappymind in school. We felt that this would complement the great work that we already do focusing on personal development and well-being. This learning has been fabulous in equipping every child with the tools that they need to 'thrive in the modern world by teaching all children strategies that develop positive behaviours and that strengthen their mental health, resilience and well-being.' We are delighted that our work so far has led to our bronze accreditation! We are proud to be a My Happymind School and look forward to our work next year. Our Happy Heroes were keen to share the news with our whole community!

The Year Two children had a fantastic day yesterday for their end of year Day Camp. They enjoyed pitching their tents, playing games with their friends across the year group, having a picnic in the shade on the field, team games, making smores and learning some new skills! A huge thank you must go to the staff and volunteers for all of their effort in setting this up on a beautiful but rather warm day!

Children across Years One and Two had a fabulous time with Dominic from Team Rubicon yesterday, learning skateboarding skills. The children did a great job at working together to help and support each other. Staff were very proud of how attentive the children were, which meant there was lots to celebrate by the end of each session with how well children progressed and achieved! Well done everyone!

We were delighted to welcome our OPAL Outdoor Play and Learning CIC Mentor, Lizzie, to a celebration assembly this week where we received our Double Platinum Award! We were also joined by some of our lunchtime play team, representatives of Pickering Town Council and Ryedale Lions who have supported a number of projects between them that have supported the development of our grounds for play. We are incredibly proud of the play opportunities that we offer our children. If you feel as passionately as we do about play in schools, you might want to consider OPAL's petition to ask the Government to make it a requirement for primary schools to have a plan for play.
