We have had a wonderful half term at Busy Bees. 🐝
The children have enjoyed learning about the changing seasons, looking at the blossom on the trees, the changeable weather and the importance of sun safety
As they learnt about planting they enjoyed reading Jack and Beanstalk, the children created beanstalk collages to help with counting and number recognition. They planted cress, beans and lettuces in our garden and discovered what a seed needs in order to grow.
To mark VE Day some of the children came dressed in red, white and blue and we made poppies.
Finally, we had some exciting new arrivals at Busy Bees; 6 fluffy chicks. The children enjoyed watching them hatch out of their eggs and then helped care for them before they moved to their new home.

The children enjoyed another fun-filled half term at Busy Bees. 🐝

We celebrated St David's Day, learning about traditional dress and making delicious Welsh cakes.

During World Book Day the children developed their love of reading. Our chosen book was The Tiger Who Came For Tea, and the children enjoyed creating tea parties and taking the Tiger home for tea with their family.

For Mother’s Day they developed their understanding of people who are special to them, how they help us and said thank you by making truffles and cards.

We finished the half term with Easter celebrations, making beautiful bonnets and had a fun Easter Egg hunt.

The children enjoyed a fun first half of the spring term at Busy Bees.
We learned about the cold and Chinese New Year. We were lucky to have one of our parents in to teach the children about her culture and the celebrations.
The children made bird food and we learned about caring for birds in the cold weather.
The children enjoyed washing up after cooking, completing the whole cycle of the activity, and caring for their environment.
We enjoyed lots of Montessori Activities to develop concentration, hand eye co-ordination and dexterity.

This week we have been learning about the cold. The children have learnt about different polar animals, painted penguins, investigated ice, sung frosty songs and made polar bears!
We have been able to enjoy lots of time in the garden where the children have enjoyed playing and learning with their friends.
We look forward to seeing you all on Monday for another exciting week!

Happy New Year! We were thrilled to see everyone back at Busy Bee this week and enjoyed hearing about their Christmas celebrations.

This week we have been looking at 'Stickman'. We enjoyed recounting the story, making Stickman, hunting for sticks and retelling the story on our tough tray.
The cold weather has also been a great source of excitement! The children loved hunting for ice, hearing it crack under foot and watching it melt.

We are fortunate to have regular visits from Fiddlesticks (singing) and Activate (multisports).

We also had a visit from Hampshire and IOW Fire Service to help the children learn about fire safety ahead of Bonfire Night

Busy Bee is a small family run Montessori preschool, founded in 1985 by Jackie Pipe, and is currently managed by Jackie’s daughter, Sophie.

At Busy Bee we follow the Montessori ethos of care of self, care of each other and care of the environment.

It is a small, nurturing environment which aims to foster independence and a strong sense of self esteem through play and exploration.
