Why is multi sensory learning so valuable ?

👉🏼 Improves memory and retention
👉🏼Develops stronger brain connections
👉🏼Supports different learning styles
👉🏼Makes learning fun

Yesterday I posted with absolute pride about my son's amazing GCSE achievement and the wonderful community we have created together.

There was a tear in my eye, not a tear I was expecting, but a sudden wave of grief for my other son too. It was the realisation that this was another milestone that we wouldn't have together, for my son with complex sen needs.

I just wanted to pause and reflect, because being a mother to both these boys, is my absolute joy and passion every day, but it is complicated and a constant juggle between supporting, loving and honouring both of their spirits.

During the summer holidays, I have been supporting some families to make phonics fun and support their children build more confidence before they go back to school.

My approach for my younger learners is to make all our sessions fun, playful and not a worksheet in sight!

I have a couple of slots available in September after school, so if you and your child would like to see how my sessions can be playful and fun whilst making a difference to their phonic sense then please do get in touch.

Sessions are run from our farmhouse in Petersfield, with lots of animals to meet along the way!

What’s going on with The Hive? 🌿

You may have heard some whispers that The Hive has joined forces with The Oaks. It’s true, and it’s been gently unfolding behind the scenes for a while now.

We’ve now officially become Thrive Learning Hub - a creative, joined-up space for home-educated children aged 6–16+.

This isn’t a pivot or a rebrand. It’s a natural evolution.

Over the past year, we’ve been co-creating behind the scenes: shared sessions, shared values, shared vision. It became clear that we could serve our community better together.

Thrive offers:

🧠 Project-based learning hubs for 6-13+
🎨 Creative clubs and socials for tweens & teens
🧾 Functional Skills & GCSE study for kids age 13+
🌿 A trauma-informed, child-centred approach
👩‍👧‍👦 A team of facilitators and teachers who get it

This is a new and exciting offering for our growing teen community in and around the Liss/ Petersfield area.

There is very few opportunities for home educated teens in the local area to meet and create. Our 'Teen Art Club' will be launching Weds April 30th after The Hive Liss , at Liss Pavilion from 12.30-14.00

This will be led by Susannah from II HEART ART CLUB a wonderfully passionate and experienced facilitator of art courses for KS3 and GCSE.

🖌Our first block we have named 'TREES, FLOWERS, ANIMALS OR BIRDS'. As part of this block, students will have the opportunity to research and analyse the techniques used by artists or designers in working on the subject of trees, flowers, animals or birds

🖌Produce a number of drawings, sketches and/or designs based on these natural forms

🖌Produce a final piece using a range of medias of their choice.

The aim of this 4 week block it to allow students the opportunity to explore their creativity and to give them the time and opportunity to be self directed in how they explore this theme. WHAT IS THE HIVE?

The Hive is a tutoring hub for home educated children to meet each week. We offer a number of different curriculum pathways.

📌 GCSE pathways focusing on IGCSE English Language and Maths
📌Functional Skills - offering an alternative to GCSEs. Led by a SEN and dyslexia specialist teacher.
📌Pre GCSE / KS3 Curriculum

Our community is more than just tuition. The Hive is run by passionate and caring teachers, who know and understand home education.

IS YOUR CHILD THRIVING OR SURVIVING IN SCHOOL?

The Hive is a maths and english class which runs from Buriton Village Hall each Friday morning in term time.

We can support children looking to pursue GCSEs and Functional Skills as well as those in KS3 wanting to build their confidence in maths and english.
